A Real Sweetie----And An Elementary Teacher, Too!

Bill Glauber: Milwaukee Journal Sentinal:
A 26-year-old woman was charged Thursday with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts for allegedly making email threats against Wisconsin lawmakers during the height of the battle over Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.

Katherine R. Windels of Cross Plains was named in a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Criminal Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Windels allegedly sent an email threat to State Sen. Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) March 9. Later that evening, she allegedly sent another email to 15 Republican legislators, including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau).

The subject line of the second email was: "Atten: Death Threat!!!! Bomb!!!" In that email, she purportedly wrote, "Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks."

"I hope you have a good time in hell," she allegedly wrote in the lengthy email in which she purportedly listed scenarios in which the legislators and their families would die, including bombings and by "putting a nice little bullet in your head."

Is Ohio A Loser State?

It bothers me to bring this up but it appears the 'Rust Belt' has become the 'Bust Belt'. Since the residents of Detroit and three major Ohio cities have diminished my thought is they didn't die. They fled! Whenever declining populations are brought up the blame is laid at the feet of no job creation. P-toohey! The blame is Lyndon Johnson's Great Society and succeeding welfare administrations that "hold the man down". You know what I mean!

Gas Up 100% Under Obama

Washington Times, by James S. Robbins
Feeling pain at the pump? Gas prices have doubled since Mr. Obama took office. According to the GasBuddy gasoline price tracking web site, the price of a gallon of regular gas was around $1.79 when Mr. Obama took office. Today the national average is $3.58. The lowest average price in the continental United States is $3.31 in Tulsa Oklahoma, the highest is $4.14 in Santa Barbara, CA. Four-dollar-a-gallon gas has arrived on average throughout California, and a number of other states are headed in that direction.

14 Year Old Girl Lashed To Death-Adultery

Shariatpur, Bangladesh (CNN) — Hena Akhter’s last words to her mother proclaimed her innocence. But it was too late to save the 14-year-old girl.

Her fellow villagers in Bangladesh’s Shariatpur district had already passed harsh judgment on her. Guilty, they said, of having an affair with a married man. The imam from the local mosque ordered the fatwa, or religious ruling, and the punishment: 101lashes delivered swiftly, deliberately in public.

Hena dropped after 70.
Darbesh Khan and his wife, Aklima Begum, had to watch their youngest daughter being whipped until she dropped. (My question. What did Darbesh say about Sharia prior to his daughter’s death? What did he do about it?)
Bloodied and bruised, she was taken to hospital, where she died a week later.
Amazingly, an initial autopsy report cited no injuries and deemed her death a suicide.

Obama In 2002: "Toppling Brutal Dictator A Dumb War"

CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, as an Illinois state senator in 2002, said that using military force to topple a murderous dictator amounted to a “dumb war” and should be opposed.

The “dumb war” Obama was criticizing was the planned invasion of Iraq and the murderous dictator was its leader, Saddam Hussein.

Rush Explains Collective Bargaining

Rush Limbaugh explains(tries to) to a union sympathizer about collective bargaining. 3/30/11.
Mary Jo from Madison: Okay, one thing, okay, what gives the Republicans the right to tell me that I cannot collectively get together with people about my work, about my benefits, about anything?

RUSH: Do you want the answer?

CALLER: That's my right as an American.

RUSH: Because you are collectively bargaining against your citizens. You are collectively bargaining against your neighbors. You're not bargaining against some fat cat CEO flying around in a jet who owns the company. The issue here is not about what you want. The issue is about what is affordable, what the citizens are able to pay. And they aren't able to pay what you are demanding. Collective bargaining, you are not engaging in collective bargaining when you're a public employee union. You're shaking down your fellow citizens is what's happening. And the state's either gonna go bankrupt or this is all gonna get fixed and we're going to bring things back into balance. That's where we are. The governor is trying to save the state, save your job and everybody else's job. You don't see it that way because you have the bias and the prejudice of union membership. But who elected you to get health care for free? Who decided you get health care and your pension free for the rest of your life? Where did that happen? It's unsustainable.

Matt Lauer: Born Without A Brain

Geoffrey Dickens @ Newsbusters:

NBC's Matt Lauer, on Wednesday's Today show, startled Michele Bachmann as he tried to convince her that Obama's strategy of bombing Libya was a good way to show support for the rebels as he pressed the Republican Minnesota Congresswoman "If there are flickers, as you say, of al Qaeda among the rebels, would it not be a sign to them or showing them that the United States has compassion and we are willing to use our military might to help all people?" Bachmann was taken aback by the thrust of the question as she responded: "Compassion for al Qaeda?"

Bring On Todd Palin

Harry Truman was a character. The successor to FDR, he was considered, at the time, unworthy to hold office. Since I was not yet out of the womb when he took office it's not easy understanding how the American people felt about him as President but I think it might be the same as me taking over for Vince Lombardi.
Harry had a temper. There's a verified story that Mr. Truman lost it when a Paul Hume, music critic for the Washington Post, gave a very negative singing review of Margaret Truman, Harry's daughter, following a concert.
Truman, a feisty and loving dad wrote a letter to Hume threatening to "punch him in the nose and called him an SOB". He then went on to write, "when I'm finished with you, you'll need an athletic supporter below". End of story.

Let's move into present day. Bill Maher: supposed funny man has made two comments about Sara Palin in the last week, unflattering to say the least. A week ago he referred to her as a "twat". Hardly a word from feminists groups in the country has been heard castigting Maher. Had Hannity said this about Pelosi----well, I don't even want to go down that road.
Two days ago at a stage show in Texas Maher once again brought himself shame when he outdid the "twat" comment. He called Mrs. Palin the C word. Not even Jerry Lewis could get away with that one.
My wildest, most satisfying dream would be that Maher gets on an elevator with Todd Palin. You know him, Arctic fisherman, oil rigger on the North Face, champion dog sled racer. Wouldn't it be social justice to see the result of this massacre?
One can only dream.

Government Shutdown? So What!

In nine days the government, once again, will be out of our money. Demo-commies will scream bloody murder about all the suffering that will take place and how unfair the dastardly Republicans are to those in need.
I recall, during the Clinton years, when we had a shut down and then Speaker Gingrich came under fire by the likes of Gepahrdt and Daschle for being so heartless. A park ranger in Colorado was interviewed and related his tale of woe. Well, everyone knew the lack of borrowing would be short in scope and the ranger would eventually receive his back pay.
My life saver in the money scenario is Lizzie. She's a wizard at handling our money. During our forty-two years of marriage we have had one hard and fast rule: "live within your means". We had a credit card right immediately after marriage.
We used it for only one reason; establish a credit rating. This borrowing money by the government seems so ridiculous to us. If a person doesn't have money they shouldn't be able to buy things. Oh, some of you will say, "weren't you in debt when you bought a home". Of course we were but we didn't buy a place for status and we lived in junk when we were younger. For a year we propped up a couch's leg with two books because we couldn't afford to buy a new one.
Thank goodness for my wife. On the first day of each month I receive an allowance. It's not a huge amount but it's more than I need. From this allowance I buy essentials(razors, toothpaste, shaving cream). It's also my fun money. If I see a candy bar or toy for one of the grandkids they'd like that comes out of my allowance. When that money is gone I'm done until the next month. This process has worked for years. It's too bad our elected representatives still feed at the trough.
Trust me when I say if Lizzie was in charge of the nation's finances we'd be in the black. I repeat, "if you don't have it you can't buy it".
Whatever happened to good ol' common sense?

Glenn Beck: 'Lightening Rod"

From the UK Daily Mail by Staff:

"Glenn Beck was dropped from five of a radio network's stations because his show’s content was damaging ratings and he is ‘sort of all over the park from time to time’. Buckley Radio announced it will pull the controversial presenter’s show from four stations in Connecticut because it is 'inconsistent' and has become too religious."

The operative word in this paragraph is 'religious', folks. Beck is not for everyone but he is doing an almost one man job of exposing the communist left in this country and, yes, he talks of religion and christianity. Try and tell me we don't need a dose or two of that in America.
Anyone who details the George Soros machine and what he is attempting to do to the US both socially and financially should be applauded. What's the big deal about Connecticut dropping the radio shows. It's not like they're actually smart. Ever hear of Sen. Chris Dodd? They elected he and his dad for years. It's only another East Coast communist state.

One More Takes A Dip

Lizzie and I are preparing for number eight baptism of a grandchild next week. It's going to be a festive and Christian occasion. In the Catholic Church baptism is one of the blessed sacraments. If you don't know, the poor child at birth, has the ugly stain of original sin on it's soul. Thanks a lot, Adam and Eve. Anyway, the good padre pours Holy Water over my granddaughter's head, says some prayers and Adeline's soul will be "clean as a green bean". When our kids were newly born we didn't want to take a chance that they might die with original sin on their souls so we filled the bath tub with water and did it ourselves. One can't be too careful. The Church has the ability to change the rules when they feel like change is good. It used to be people who passed on with that original stain went to a place called Limbo. It wasn't a bad place but, through no fault of their own, these humans were not allowed to see God. What a crock!. It's been changed for awhile so pretty much all of the deceased can walk through the pearly gates.
Baptisms today are kind of a community effort. In the old days there would be one baptism; sort of made the kid and that family feel special. Present day ceremonies are done en masse. When my eldest granddaughter was baptized there must have been thirty parents, godparents newborns and and their siblings on the alter. It looked like one of those group weddings the Rev. Sung Myung Moon held for his congregation.
Regardless, both sides of the families will be represented. The difficult aspect of all this is the recognition that we have eight munchkins. Time flies, doesn't it? I'd like to familiarize my readers with the 'wunder kinds' by name. In the 21st century there aren't may Michael's and Mary's anymore. It's more fashionable to be called: Oscar, Genevieve, Kingston, Eve, Tommy, Adeline, Paige and David. They'd best be nice to me. I buy treats for good little boys and girls.

Priorities

If the President needs to make a prime time speech on the activities and justifications for his country's actions in the Middle East that surely would take precedent over anything, wouldn't it? If you said, "Yes" you would be incorrect and a wee bit foolish.
Obama wanted to talk AT us at 8 PM EDT last evening. This is know as Prime Time. One of his pals, the ABC Network, balked, according to the New York Times. The second most popular show on television, "Dancing With The Stars", occupies that time period. The administration gave in and went for the 7:30 time period.
Sometimes we have to decide on priorities. Dancing? War? Dancing? War? Is Kirstie Alley on that show? Ahhh------Cheers. Wasn't Woody Boyd funny? War? What war?

Lighten Up

Seems I've been on a serious rant lately so it's about time to 'lighten up' for a few sentences, anyway.
I shot an 82 at the course yesterday; not great but not bad especially since it was 31 degrees F. The great thing about this gentlemen's game is things change from one day to the next. Today, with my buddy, I scored an amazing 94. I can't blame the weather since it had warmed up to a blazing forty-one. This wasn't the bad news, though. I have a terrible habit of having my mind in Ethiopia when my body is in Dublin, Ohio. On the third hole I unbuckled the strap that holds my golf bag on the cart. I've done this before. Anyway, my friend gunned the accelerator and the bag went flying, on the pavement. Chalk up one ball retriever-$45.00. Write down one broken shaft from my driver-$100.00 plus. Shooting a 94-priceless!!!
I hope God has a sense of humor. Either that or He's deaf.
Tomorrow's a new day.

World's Best Reason To Avoid Facebook

Ol' MJ just received an email from my buddy in Council Bluffs, Iowa and I was laughing out loud after reading. It seems that Bob Gibbs, former White House press secretary is in negotiations to work for Facebook and you already know how yours truly feels about that operation. One can only imagine the myriad of scenarios that would fill up blog space with 'Gibby' at the helm. I mean, what can he do? What is there to do except make hisself more ridiculous than than he already is? As Bugs Bunny used to say about Elmer Fudd, "What a maroon"! You can read the article here

Virginia Commonwealth U

Yep, that basketball factory, Virginia Commonwealth University, took on the University of Kansas in an Elite 8 basketball game yesterday and came away with its first Final Four in school history. Hooray for the:------ "Wait, I have to look up their nickname". Can't find it but I think it's the Commodores, but don't bet on it.
This was a team that had to play it's way into the tournament because they were considered "cannon fodder". Their coach is thirty-three years old, billiard ball bald(shaved no doubt) and the youngest to ever make the final round. His name is Shaka Smart and he grew up in the Madison, Wisconsin area. What if he were a communist, or worse yet, a Democrat? Are you starting to get my drift on this one? Ever see 'Remember The Titans'? How 'bout 'The Blind Side'?
We can go all the way back to Knute Rockne for scripts. MJ Hawkeye might have to go on hiatus. I feel a Hollywood gig for MJH. This could be my ticket to fame and fortune.

Bill Ayers: "I Wrote", 'Dreams Of My Father'

NewsBusters, by Noel Sheppard:
For the second time in less than eighteen months, domestic terrorist Bill Ayers admitted he wrote Barack Obama's book "Dreams From My Father." This time, it was recorded on videotape as he was speaking last Thursday at Montclair State University AYERS: I wrote “Dreams From My Father.” CROWD: We know that. QUESTIONER: You wrote that? AYERS: Yeah, and if you could help me prove it, I’ll split the royalties with you. [Laughter]

A Thought On Fuel And The Little Man

There should be class warfare going on in the country--big time--when it comes to the power of the pump. I'm getting a kick out of Donald Trump. He's all over the media; even saw him bloviating on "The View" last week. He thinks he's presidential timber. More like balsa wood if you ask me.
Trump has no problem with fuel from a purchasing standpoint. In this regard I think of barbers, saloon owners, ditch diggers, you name it. These folks are on the bottom rung when it comes to being noticed by their politicians and their government. If I had no value system and wanted to come back in the next life rich I'd be a D.C. lobbyist.
I'll be honest with you. The price of fuel is a strain for me but I can handle it. It's the middle class and working poor who slug along daily trying to eke it out and, for the most part, have little or no say in what's going on in the country.
I asked a college prof in a history class in the 60's why we didn't have a 'knock down drag out' revolution during the Great Depression. His answer was, "there was always that chance a fella could grab the brass ring; become Horatio Alger". That's what this country was founded on". Since no one listens to the little man I'm beginning to wonder. Hope I'm wrong but it's something to think about; a revolution, that is!

We Might Be Better Off Dead

From USA Today:

Millions of retired and disabled people in the United States had better brace for another year with no increase in Social Security payments.

The government is projecting a slight cost-of-living adjustment for Social Security benefits next year, the first increase since 2009. But for most beneficiaries, rising Medicare premiums threaten to wipe out any increase in payments, leaving them without a raise for a third straight year.

"Yeah, we might be better off dead. I sort of have an inkling Obama's guvment wants it that way".

Now They've Gone Too Far

If you ever thought the politically correct crowd; vegans, greenpeace, feminazi's, Code Pink, tree huggers et al, weren't flaming nutso this solidifies the case.
Silly me, I always thought dogs were canine, carnivores, meat eaters. Evidently not. So what's next for Pluto? Will he be dining on tofu and washing it down with spritzers and lattes?

U.S. Trained Palestinian Murderers

"Palestinian terrorists stabbed five family members to death in the settlement of Itamar early Saturday morning; three children, including a baby girl, were among the victims. The killers slashed the baby's throat. Later that day Palestinians handed out candy to celebrate the mass murder".

After a thorough investigation two Palestinian officers were charged with planning the attack. The Idaho Press reported. The Palestinians were trained by the US.

Annoying TV Commercials

Is there anything more annoying than the State Farm auto commercials. What we see are a bunch of pimply faced youth screaming, "Like a good neighbor State Farm is there". Then magically things begin to happen. "Bob Barker, I'm embarrassed for you". I thought nothing could get worse than Progressive auto insurance or Buffalo Wild Wings but State Farm wins the boob prize.

What If He Wasn't Eligible

For the sake of argument let's say that Barack Obama is ineligible to be President. Now it's time to ask yourselves questions. Would George Bush, George H. Bush or even Bill Clinton be allowed to get away with the following?

•Who among you is content with seeing the country go bankrupt with insane government spending, money taken from your pocket?
•Who is content with the gangster actions of union thugs terrorizing state centers of government to impose their will on the majority with the active support of what may be a criminal organization leading the attacks from the White House?
•Who is content with a Department of Justice that openly proclaims that crimes committed against white citizens will not be prosecuted?
•Who is content with the country plunged into yet another war in Libya without the required constitutional consent of Congress?
•How many more American young men and women will die by the hand of one who may in fact be part of a criminal organization, the case if the Commander-in-Chief is not eligible?
•Who among you is willing to tolerate Mr. Obama giving Brazil billions of dollars out of your pocket to develop Brazil’s oil reserves and refusing American workers to go back to work in our own off shore oil fields?
•Who among you is happy that the ‘criminal organization’ is bent on prohibiting development and use of the trillions of barrels of oil and vast supply of natural gas within our own country thus forcing us to go hat in hand to foreign suppliers?
•Who among you is aware that George Soros, a close friend of Mr. Obama, is a major owner of the Brazilian oil company Mr. Obama, while on his vacation trip, agreed to finance and support with US tax dollars?

Obama's Buddies = Zero Taxes

From The Blaze by Emily Smith:

Half of all Americans don’t pay federal taxes on their income. And neither, apparently, does General Electric, the multi-national company that reaped $14.2 billion in profits last year. Though G.E. is the largest corporation in the U.S., it did not have to pay a dime in U.S. taxes, according to the New York Times. In fact, the company claimed $3.2 billion in tax benefits.

That may be hard to fathom for the millions of American business owners and households now preparing their own returns, but low taxes are nothing new for G.E. The company has been cutting the percentage of its American profits paid to the Internal Revenue Service for years, resulting in a far lower rate than at most multinational companies.

Who Wants $50,000? Sorry, Gotta Be Black!

By John Stossel, Fox News:
Watch Fox Business at 10 pm this evening to see the entire show.

Want to get a check from the government for $50,000? If you’re black and willing to say you once “attempted to farm,” the money could be yours.

Why? In the 80’s and 90’s, some Black farmers were allegedly discriminated against by the Agriculture Department. Department loan officers supposedly did the opposite of what Shirley Sherrod was accused of: they granted government-subsidized farm loans to whites but not to blacks.

Government shouldn’t be giving out government subsidized loans to anyone. But that’s another story for another time.

When some black farmers sued, claiming discrimination, the USDA agreed to pay $50,000 to every black person who was discriminated against.

According to the census, there were 18,000 black farmers in the country when the lawsuit was filed. But 97,000 black “farmers” have applied for the money.

It's A Strange World We Live In

MIAMI (CBS4) — Little girls love to play mommy with their dolls but when it comes to teaching our daughters about the magic of motherhood, some parents are turning to a new toy. The doll is called ‘Breast Milk Baby’ and it’s causing quite a controversy.

The doll comes from a toy company based in Spain. According to a company press release, “The Breast Milk Baby lets young girls express their love and affection in the most natural way possible, just like mommy!” The Berjuan toy company wants to promote breastfeeding as the most loving, healthy practice for a mother and her infant.

Along with the baby doll, the Breast Milk Baby comes with a special halter top for the young girl to wear. The shirt has flowers painted on it to illustrate where the nipples would be and where the girl should guide the doll’s mouth to suckle. The doll even makes a suckling noise.

Michele My Belle

MJ Hawkeye is proud to call Congresswoman, Michele Bachmann, an Iowan by birth and she remains one of heart. She was yanked out of Waterloo by her parents and moved to Minnesota at age 12; lucky for them, bad for us.
She's going to throw her hat in the ring for the election of '12. Ms. Bachmann won't win the nomination but she's going to ring the rafters with her conservative style. She's a mega fund raiser for the Republican Party and will continue to bring legitimacy to the Tea Party. I speak for many when we can bring someone of her ability and character to American politics. She must have something the Stupid Party fears. Chris Matthews calls her a 'zombie', among other things. I call her, "Ooh-la-la"!

10 Things You May Not Know About Obamacare

From Big Fur Hat:
1. Did you know that . . . since Jan. 1 of this year (2011), you cannot use your flex-account at work (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) to purchase over-the-counter medicines?

2. Did you know that . . . since July 1 of last year (2010), Americans have been paying a 10 percent excise tax on all indoor tanning services?

3. Did you know that . . . starting in 2018, if your health insurance is “too good” or considered a “Cadillac” plan, then you will incur a new 40 percent tax on your health plan?

4. Did you know that . . . Obamacare has 21 new or higher taxes in it, totaling over $500 billion in increased taxes going to the government over 10 years?

5. Did you know that . . . beginning in 2014, individuals and families that do not purchase “qualifying” -- as defined by federal bureaucrats -- health insurance will be forced to pay a yearly tax penalty?

6. Did you know that . . . 7 tax hikes in Obamacare directly break President Obama’s “firm pledge” not to raise any form of taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 per year and families making less than $250,000 per year?

7. Did you know that . . . the capital gains tax rate under Obamacare will rise to 23.8 percent starting in 2012? That is a 59 percent increase from its current rate.

8. Did you know that . . . in 2013, those Americans facing the highest medical bills and the least ability to pay for them will find their ability to deduct medical expenses is further limited (medical expenses must be reduced by 10 percent of income under Obamacare, rather than current law’s 7.5 percent)

9. Did you know that . . . beginning in 2014, businesses with over 50 employees will be forced to offer health coverage for everyone, or pay a hefty tax for each employee?

10. Did you know that . . . in 2013, Obamacare caps the amount individuals and families can put in their flexible savings accounts at $2500? Currently there is no cap and these accounts are used for a myriad of health expenses including paying upwards of $14,000 in tuition to special needs schools for some parents?

Jamie Gorelick Who Brought Us 9/11 On Short List To Head FBI

Barack Obama really knows how to pick them. It’s not often that one person plays key roles in two — count ‘em, two — trillion-dollar disasters but Jamie Gorelick is one. She helped to bring us 9/11 and the collapse of the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Ms. Gorelick is on the presidental short list to be the head of the FBI.

Gorelick, the number two person in the Clinton justice department was responsible for writing the rules that the FBI and CIA were not allowed to share intelligence.
That would be considered a violation of a person's civil liberties and rights.

It's Our Damned Money

The launch of Wikicountability.org will reveal: "That MJ Hawkeye is more than a little torqued off. The ad with "Alzheimer Andy" Griffith that ran on every TV network cost us, the taxpayer, millions of dollars to make and produce. If dreams could come true I'd have Howie Morris, alias Earnest T. Bass do some serious ass kickin' on Ol' Andy. I'M PO'D about this!

- The Andy Griffith ad promoting Obamacare last year cost taxpayers $3.66 million – including $404,000 in production – according to records obtained from HHS in a FOIA request earlier this year.

- Labor Secretary Hilda Solis met with union bosses or attended their events on more than 40 separate occasions from February 2009-January 2010.

- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau head Elizabeth Warren made time for dinner with liberal journalists including American Prospect’s Bob Kuttner, Mother Jones’s David Corn and DailyKos.com’s Markos Moulitsas.

MJ Hawkeye Sets Record

At 430 pounds, MJ Hawkeye is the heaviest person ever to finish a marathon.

The 6-foot-tall, sixty-five year old former champion sumo wrestler officially set the Guinness world record after finishing a marathon in Dunkerton, Iowa Sunday, his home town Iowa newspaper reports.

His time may not be competitive with most marathon runners — 39 hours, 48 minutes and 52 seconds — but he destroyed the old record of 275 pounds and improved his own personal best time by more than two hours.

“I honestly think I’m one of the best athletes in the world,” Hawkeye said prior to the race.
Next up for Hawkeye? A racing competition between he, Michael Moore, Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. It will be a sprint race of ten yards and stakes are already being pounded at one yard intervals so the fans can better catch all the action.

Death Of An Icon?

Unless you've been in a cocoon today it was announced that Elizabeth Taylor died. Was she a diva? Maybe the lady was the quintessential Hollywood queen of all time. I don't know. I'm not too upset with her passing but I didn't know her. She has children. I hope they were close and that she was a good mother. She had eight marriages. Jokes aplenty with that sentence, I'm sure. I'll have to watch late night TV. They'll have some doozies.

Know what? I feel the same way about Taylor's passing on as I did with Frank Sinatra; not that big a deal. Maybe I feel this way because she was from a different generation.
As for her film career I only saw one of her flicks and that was Cleopatra. It was long I believe. There was even an intermission. That's always a good time to go to the snack bar. I saw it at a drive-in theater. Want to know the ending? A snake bit her and she died but not in real life. Ms. Taylor might have won a couple of Academy Awards. Butterfield 8 gained her the first one. She played a hooker. Think about it. If you wanted to win a Hollywood award for acting play a prostitute. It's happened more than once. Then again, some of these Hollywood people have bedded down with so many men, well, practice does make perfect.

Taylor had a friendship with Michael Jackson; never could understand that one. Oh, about the Sinatra, Taylor passing and my feelings: I lump Jackson in with them, too.
Have I ever mentioned my dog, Casey? We had her for six years. She was a beautiful dalmatian. When Casey died of pancreatic cancer I was devastated and cried elephant tears. I hated when that happened. Casey should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Liberal Confusion

One can only imagine the dancing in the streets that took place two days ago by liberals around the world when it was announced that Knut the Polar Bear had died. Such foolish people. Their first assumption, of course, because libs don't think is it was Newt, Speaker of the House. They are so very, very dumb. Or as Ann Coulter says, "for liberals, history begins yesterday".

"Whoops, just in. More liberal logic:
Bush is bad but Obama is good. They do the same thing but Bush, BAD… Obama, GOOD! Obama is a GOOD MAN. BUSH is EVIL. Bush makes bad war, Obama makes good war… BUSH SPENDING BAD, OBAMA SPENDING NECESSARY"**

Libyan 'Rebels" Sell Chemical Weapons to Iran Among Others

From barenakedislam:

Tehran was drawn into backing Libya’s rebels by the discovery that the military stores they captured in Benghazi offered a one-time opportunity to acquire unconventional systems, especially chemical weapons, for its surrogates, the Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas.

The Libyan war has become the global arms market’s richest event in five years. Qaddafi may be its primary engine, but Libyan rebels have not been amiss to dipping their hands in this lucrative market on their own behalf, DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military and intelligence sources disclose.

Indeed more than one party has been attracted by Libya’s weapons trove, notably Iran, Hizballah and Hamas.

In the third week of February, Iranian representatives arrived in Benghazi on a shopping trip. They sat down with “senior officers” of Libya’s rebel forces, including former members of Qaddafi’s army.

Question? Did Barry O consider this possibility?

Who's Biased and Who Isn't

From Newsbusters:
"It's not like we normal people aren't aware of this so show it to your lib friends. Duke University: not exactly the bastion of conservatism". MJH

In a study to be released next month, three Duke University researchers rank politicians and other public figures by political ideology as measured by a formula that incorporates whom they follow on Twitter, and who follows them. “The results dovetailed with ideological ranking systems based on the politicians’ voting records,” the New York Times reported on Monday.

If the study is accurate, it demonstrates just how liberal some of America’s most prominent journalists really are. Check below the break for some key findings concerning on the not-so-neutral news media.

According to the Duke study:

- NBC’s Chuck Todd and CBS’s Katie Couric are almost as far left as the Daily Kos,

- The Washington Post and MSNBC are more liberal than far-left blog Firedoglake,

- NBC’s Brian Williams and the Los Angeles Times are further left than Andrew Sullivan’s blog the Daily Dish,

- MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, is significantly left of center.

Federal Workers: Dang, They're Good

Sean Higgins, Investors Business Daily:

Just 737 federal employees were denied a pay increase in 2009 due to poor job performance, according to information obtained by the Federal Times, a D.C. newspaper for government employees. That’s about one out of every 1,698 workers, or a denial rate of 0.06%. Believe it or not, that is actually up from recent years, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management. The denial rate had hovered between 0.04%-0.05% from 2004-08. So is the federal work force super-efficient? Are all the raises justified? Probably not.

SEIU Plans Destruction Of JP Morgan & Stock Market

From Henry Blodgett, Business Insider:

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Former SEIU Official Reveals Secret Plan To Destroy JP Morgan, Crash The Stock Market, And Redistribute Wealth In America

Stephen Lerner, formerly of SEIU.
A former official of one of the country's most-powerful unions, SEIU, has a secret plan to "destabilize" the country.

The plan is designed to destroy JP Morgan, nuke the stock market, and weaken Wall Street's grip on power, thus creating the conditions necessary for a redistribution of wealth and a change in government.

The former SEIU official, Stephen Lerner, spoke in a closed session at a Pace University forum last weekend.

Mini Movie Review

Sorry folks but today was golf and movie day. Lizzie and I attend the movies on Tuesday afternoon. It used to be called "Five dollar Tuesday" but now it's "$4.50 Tuesday". Playing today was a show called "Limitless". Robert De Niro was one of the stars. I forget the name of the main character but he played the smart ass in the film, "The Wedding Crasher". His character is this: a down and out writer who gets ahold of a pill that gives him almost unlimitless brain power. His IQ is in the four digit range. As you might expect he becomes involved in murder and mayhem. Here's a tip about the movie. Save your money! Lizzie and I agree; two thumbs down.

Happiness Is

There have been a heck of a lot of good things going on in my life in the past few months. Know what? Often times they are eensy-teensy things at the time and seem quite unimportant but reclining, where else, on the couch, they pile up and come into focus.

I discovered the very best jam ever made. It's called Davidson's of Dundee and I bought a couple of jars while in Florida. Understand I'm happy with Skippy peanut butter and any old kind of jam but Davidson's is out of this world. Next December I'm going to give the delicious mouth watering delectables as gifts.

My second head basketball coaching job was from 1969-71 at St. Mary's High School in Storm Lake, Iowa. It's a lovely community of 8,000 in the northwest part of the state. Lizzie and I married while living there and our daughter was born in SL. At the time St. Mary's had 200 students. I was fortunate to have two nice ball clubs and my second was defeated by the eventual state champion in a close, hard fought game in the district finals. If those kids had had a really good coach they might have gone all the way. Regardless, St. Mary's is now a school of 65 kids and they did win this year's Iowa State Championship; their first in history It was even the first time in the 101 year old history of the school they'd even played in the tourney. I was so happy. A couple of the players were grand kids of my former students which made it oh so nice.
Okay, you'll think this is infinitesimally ridiculous but I had new grips put on my golf clubs and used them for the first time today. Guess what? It didn't make one damned bit of difference in my performance. Since I was by myself I played two golf balls and only cheated three times. That made me happy.
Finally, and this took herculean courage, I gingerly got on the bathroom scale today. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought----a little bit bad---- but not gargantuan bad.
On that happy bit of info it's time to hit the hay unless I decide to stay and watch this really hot lady cop on the TV show, Castle. Oops! There she is. I'm wide awake. Ahhh, happy again.

Obama: Drill, Brazil, Drill

Editorial: Investors Business Daily:

Energy Policy: While leaving U.S. oil and jobs in the ground, our itinerant president tells a South American neighbor that we'll help it develop its offshore resources so we can one day import its oil. WHAT?!?

With Japan staggered by a natural disaster and a nuclear crisis, cruise missiles launched against Libya in our third Middle East conflict and a majority of U.S. senators complaining about a lack of leadership on the budget, President Obama decided it would be a good time to schmooze with Brazilians.

His "What, me worry?" presidency has given both Americans and our allies plenty to worry about. But in the process of making nice with Brazil, Obama made a mind-boggling announcement that should make even his most loyal supporter cringe:

We will help Brazil develop its offshore oil so we can one day import it.

Obama Busts A Move

Hey! Cut the guy some slack. Let him relax in Brazil. It's not like there's a world crisis going on. Wait a minute-------------------

No Flies On These Ladies

When it comes to finding new and exciting web sites, as Ricky Nelson used to say on the Ozzie and Harriet Show, "hey, I don't mess around". Not only are these ladies easy on the eyes their site is insightful and entertaining. These are midwestern woman who have their ideas and fingers on the pulse.
I love it when classy and sophisticated women promote their conservatism. Eat your heart out, Helen Thomas. Click on the highlighted word and see for yourself; Chicksontheright.com. It's the "in" place to be.

042-68-4425

Jack Cashill @ WND:
Susan Daniels is a no-nonsense private investigator from Ohio. On a whim and because she isn't excited about the direction of the country she began searching Obama records. She had heard all the rumors; birth certificate or lack of, difficult to find college records, everything you already know. What happened next surprised her to no end.

What she and fellow investigator Neil Sankey unearthed was a nugget that could have ended the career of a George Bush or a Sarah Palin. Barack Obama had been using a social security number issued in Connecticut between 1977 and 1979, a state in which he never lived or even visited at that time in his life. His 'official' social security number is 042-68-4425. It originally was held by a young man who died at age 19.His name was Thomas Woods. The card Obama has is a phony. You can find all of the info at World Net Daily. The next questions to be asked? Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?

Obama Violated Oath Of Office & Constitution

J.B. Williams, American Thinker:

On the eighth anniversary of the day President George W. Bush ordered U.S. troops into Iraq in 2003, with the full support of the U.S. Congress and majority support from the U.N. Security Council, Barack Obama launched a Tomahawk missile assault on the sovereign nation of Libya with no majority support in the U.N. and without even consulting Congress.

Acting alone while Congress was away on recess, solely at the command of the United Nations and without constitutional authority, Barack Obama dropped over $70 million worth of Tomahawk missiles on Libya -- a dictatorial maneuver to force a regime change in a foreign land.

Under what authority did Obama green-light this dictatorial assault? To be certain, Qadaffi is no prize, but what Obama just did is nevertheless unacceptable. Acting all alone in a truly imperialistic fashion, Obama violated his oath of office, Articles I and II of the U.S. Constitution, and the War Powers Act -- all in one mindless, knee-jerk decision.

Them's A Whole Lotta Cheeseburgers

When was it this guy became popular? Was it Bowling for Columbine. No wait, it was the movie about the head of GM and how he was screwing the workers of Flint, Michigan. The movie was titled "Roger and Me". GM closed down in Flint and went to Mexico. It had something to do with unions and exorbitant demands. It's kind of like when I called on the GM Plant in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The union contract guaranteed a wage and job for the workers even though there was no work. I'd walk into the company cafeteria and see guys playing cards, watching television or napping. "Hey! They had to get in their eight hours someway"!
The second time GW Bush ran for President, Lizzie and I were driving in downtown Columbus and came to a stop light. Looking to my left I noticed a huge, long line waiting to get into the theater. I rolled down the window and asked: "Hey Lady, what's going on"? She said, "Michael Moore's speaking tonight". I love a guffaw laugh once in awhile and Lizzie was embarrassed by my antics. She got over it. Paying money to see and listen to Michael Moore ranks up there by doing the same thing for Charlie Sheen.

Liberal Democrats In Uproar Over Libya

JOHN BRESNAHAN & JONATHAN ALLEN from Politico:

A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.

Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didn’t object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.

And liberals fumed that Congress hadn’t been formally consulted before the attack and expressed concern that it would lead to a third U.S. war in the Muslim world.

Because They Love Him

Lester Holt on NBC just “reported” that the Libyan War (few hours old) will be a “POPULAR” war as the U.S. is on the “good guy’s side”. I could almost hear the ghost words “as opposed to Bush’s war”.

Other reporters RAVED on how Obama, Clinton and Gates coordinated from 3 continents the limited Libyan war.

Obama Praises Brazilian Oil Drilling

Jim Hoft @ RightNetWork:

At least 7 oil rigs moved out of the Gulf area to other parts of the world since President Obama initiated his moratorium last year.

President Obama defended his trip to Latin America today in an editorial at USA Today. He also praised the expanding Brazilian offshore oil industry.

"We’ll also work to strengthen our relationship when it comes to energy. Brazil holds recently discovered oil reserves that could be far larger than ours, and as we seek to increase secure-energy supplies, we look forward to developing a strategic energy partnership. We’ll also continue our shared leadership in green economic growth and clean energy, including everything from biofuels to renewables such as wind and solar power. And as the host of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics, Brazil is expected to invest more than $200 billion in upgrading its infrastructure — an area where America is primed to be a partner".

That’s strange.
This is the same president who has declared war on domestic oil and gas exploration and production since the first day he moved into the White House.
Sarah Palin reported on his anti-energy agenda earlier this week

Parent's Can't Be Their Children's Pal

From KDKA, Pittsburgh:

Police say a local mother contributed to a crash that killed three teenagers.

Susan Sanders-Watt, 59, is charged with 16 counts of furnishing alcohol to minors in addition to four counts each of corruption of a minor and endangering the welfare of a child.
She allegedly purchased a half keg of beer last June so her son could have a graduation party for his friends, but three of those friends were killed in a crash on the way home from the party.
A fourth was seriously injured.
Michael Simpson, Jordan Cobb, both 19, and 18-year-old Carly Kudray, were all graduates of Greensburg-Salem High School.
They were driving on Church Street in Salem Township at the time of the crash.

Simpson, who was driving, had a blood alcohol level of .147 – more than seven times the legal limit for someone his age.
Police also believe the teens had been drinking at Kudray’s father’s home earlier in the evening.

Meet MJ Hawkeye

This is a difficult decision to make but I've decided to take my show on the road. I'll be travelling the nation to our largest cities promoting my one man stage production. The audience(s) will be able to ask me personal questions about my life growing up in Iowa and my coaching career. Sounds like fun, doesn't it. In addition, for those who want a personal audience this can be arranged for a few dollars more. Line up and save your money because I'll be coming to your area soon.
And what was the impetus for this? Well, Charlie Sheen is doing just this. He's going to be appearing in Columbus soon at the Palace Theater. It seats 2,600 people and it's SOLD OUT ALREADY. Tickets are going for between $44 and $70 some odd dollars. For a private get together you can shell out a little over $500.
What I don't understand is why don't people get on their computers, punch in a YouTube and watch the guy self destruct over and over again without having to lose the cash.
It's another sign that Armageddon is arriving

Lizzie At The DMV

Lizzie and I have changed our voting status from Minnesota to Ohio, or I did, anyway. We thought we were going to move there permanently three years ago so we both had Minnesota drivers licenses. I changed mine to Ohio in December for purely financial reasons. Since I turned sixty-five in January I wanted the Homestead tax reduction. If any of you are becoming super, super senior citizens soon stick this nugget in your memory file. It's not a fortune but it'll buy groceries for a couple of months.
Anyway, Lizzie made the trip to the DMV today take her test and secure a license. An individuals life history is required to take the exam and garner the license. That's when it got tricky. She had three papers with her social security number printed; her Minnesota license, passport, insurance forms and our electric and water bills for the last six months. What she didn't have was an actual social security card and for this she was disqualified from taking he drivers license exam. What struck me as curious is the building was loaded with migrants from south of the border, a slew of Somalians and a variety of folks with dots on their foreheads wearing those wildly colored saris. Am I led to believe that all these people had the six thousand pieces of the required papers to be licensed?
Being a wonderful and consoling husband I wanted to put my lady at ease so I told her, "Look, if it's any consolation you can always run for President of the United States". It didn't help.

One Year Ago Today

"2010 United States Obama says he will be pursuing ‘aggressive sanctions’ on Iran".

WHAT A PUTZ THIS GUY IS!

And The Band Played On

Jim McElhatton @ The Washington Times:

Despite the looming possibility of a government shutdown, federal layoffs and furloughs, there’s at least one thing members of Congress from both political parties can readily agree on these days: partying.

Morning, noon and night, more than 150 fundraising parties are scheduled all over Washington this week for Democratic and Republican politicians in bars, restaurants and private town houses and at sporting events — even to watch the woeful Washington Wizards play. Other lawmakers are gearing up for March Madness, the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament, with luxury suites for fundraising at the Verizon Center.

The flurry of fundraising comes as the end of the first quarter for reporting election contributions comes up. Also, Congress will be adjourning next week, so politicians might be scurrying to raise money in Washington while they still can.

An Apology From MJ Hawkeye

On February 26 I wrote that within a week the leader of Libya would be dead in a few days. I was wrong. There were a couple of things I didn't count on. First off, the people fighting for their lives can do only so much. As we used to say in the coaching profession when talking about a team's firepower: "you can't make chicken pie out of chicken s**t". In other words, the freedom fighters can do only so much.
Stupid me. After forcing Mubarak out of office in Egypt I assumed(another interesting word--never assume)Obama would either overtly or otherwise come to the aid of the Libyan people. Uh-uh! It didn't happen and, at this stage, it appears the leader, Khadafy, will remain in power. Sad to say but there will be many new job openings in Libya; torturers will be in great demand as will people wielding beheading apparatus.
I apologize. When I think the US is about to become a good guy my government falls back to it's usual action. Gosh, one would think Obama is a supporter of all things Muslim Brotherhood, wouldn't one?

The Presidential Brackets

From IowaHawk

And Nero Fiddled(Or Made Out His Brackets)

This Is How National Health Care Works In England

"A grieving mother has criticised a hospital for not trying to help her premature baby survive after he was born.

Tracy Godwin, 31, went into labour at just 22-weeks but despite being very early her tiny baby Tom was born alive.

The heartbroken mother said she begged doctors to help her struggling baby but they refused because they do not intervene when a baby is less than 24-weeks old.

Tracy Godwin, 31, gave birth to son Tom on March 6 last year, just 12 days short of the threshold for treatment".
From UK Daily Mail

Separated At Birth?

Maybe you haven't read about it yet but there is concern by some in the US that a nuclear cloud may be carried to the West Coast of our country. This would be a result of Japan's nuclear meltdown.
Over reactors(no pun intended) will be sucking down iodine tablets the way I gobble M&M's. Our Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin, says to ingest these pills as a precaution. Other doctor's have said not to; people may be allergic to iodine and not know it. Is Jocelyn Elders, Clinton's Surgeon General, the mother of Benjamin? How can we have the head of health be candidates for Jenny Craig? The true test: will Benjamin put her impramatur on masturbation?

"Drudge, Look Out"

I didn't know I had so many relatives. In checking out the stats for last month there were 2,012 hits on MJ Hawkeye. This includes every state in the union except for Hawaii which doesn't show up on my user map. Needless to write, that IS a record month. I expect an advertiser to be contacting me soon with a, what else, contract.
Thank you for your participation.

Success Achieved By Lowering Standings

From FrontPage by Arnold Ahlert;

Two seemingly unrelated stories in the news last week reveal the bankruptcy of the progressive mindset. In Dayton, Ohio, under pressure from the U.S. Department of Justice, the city’s Police Department is changing its passing grades–again–on tests for police recruits. Last Wednesday, in a report to Congress, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan revealed that up to 82 percent of public schools could be labeled “failing” because they don’t meet the requirements established by the No Child Left Behind law (NCLB). Duncan claimed the law needed to be “fixed.” In both cases, the “fix” is lowering standards.

Why Planned Parenthood Was Founded

White Onions

Time flies, leaders change, and prices go up without hardly noticing. There's a wonderful bread store in our old town of Westerville, Ohio called Harvest Bread. That's all they sell. We started buying there for special occasions only in the mid-90's. A loaf of bread, well, it wasn't actually a loaf but circular in shape and it cost $2.25 but it was worth it. The texture was sort of spongy and it came in a variety of flavors; pumpkin and pumpernickel. Wheat was very good. My mother in law gave us the dickens for spending so much on a loaf when she came to visit.
The only reason I bring up the price of bread is because Lizzie asked me pick up one onion for dinner. She was making what turned out to be an excellent southern dish with shrimp, kielbasa, rice, carrots and onions plus some other junk I don't care about. I'm not too finicky about food. Lizzie is fab when it comes to cooking and if you looked at me while I was 'nekkid' you know I never leave the table hungry.
Housewives might not be surprised at this but that one white onion cost 99 cents a pound. Does that seem outrageous? I mean, all you can do with an onion is cook it. It's not like it's an apple or an orange or even a banana. By the way, aren't bananas about 29 cents a pound? Even 39 cents would be like diamonds compared to the price of an onion.
Let's say little Johnny is coming to the dinner table. What are the chances of him asking, "Mommy, can I have an extra onion tonight? I'm really hungry". Besides, people don't begin to eat onions until they've been married for forty years and 'onion breath' doesn't mean much.
Oh, I purchased a new car today. It's a 4 cylinder Mazda minivan. In 1968 my first car was a Pontiac GTO and it set me back the grand sum of $2,600. That was a princely sum back then. the Mazda is eight times that amount but you already knew that, didn't you?
I feel badly for my grand kids. When they're my age they will have to take out a second mortgage to buy their grandchildren a malted milk.

What Jihad?

By David Horowitz:

A report by Glenn Beck on the the Palestinians’ massacre of a Jewish family on the West Bank gets it right — and he is the only major media figure who has. The silence of the rest of the media is a tribute to the success of the Islamic jihad in America in preventing the truth about Islamic Nazism from being told lest teller be accused of Islamophobia. Regarding the rest of the press, Mark Steyn as usual has written the last word: ”Dead Jews Is No News”:

On Friday night, twelve-year old Tamar Fogel came home to find both her parents, Ruth and Udi Fogel, two brothers Yoav (11) and Elad (four), and her three-month old sister Hadas murdered in their beds. They had had their throats cut and been stabbed through the heart.

That’s not shocking: There is no shortage of young Muslim men who would enjoy slitting the throat of a three-month old baby, and then head home dreaming of the town square or soccer tournament to be named in their honor.

Back in Gaza, the citizenry celebrated the news by cheering and passing out sweets.

That’s not shocking, either: In the broader Palestinian death cult, there are untold legions who, while disinclined to murder Jews themselves, are content to revel in the glorious victory of others.

And out in the wider world there was a marked reluctance to cover the story

It's A Brazilian Enigma

Forbes, Kenneth Rapoza:

"President Barack Obama will take his first official trip to Brazil this weekend where he will speak in the popular Cinelandia Square in downtown Rio de Janeiro. Access, of course, will be tightly restricted and security measures so secretive that not even the Embassy or US Consulate in Rio know exactly who it’s all going to go down. Obama’s speech will be free and open to the public and take place around 15:00 local time (14:00 EST). Access to the square will begin at 11:30, and is sure to draw a crowd. Obama is popular in Brazil. One politician seeking office in Rio actually changed his name to Barack Obama in 2008 to solicit votes. He didn’t win".

A couple of things caught my eye while perusing this article. First, the communist-in-chief is off on another jaunt; his first to Brazil. The beaches are supposed fabulous. The sand on the beaches is supposed to be spectacular, too, if you know what I mean. Secondly, Obama is considered to be extremely popular in Brazil. If that's the case and some "yahoo" changes his name to 'Barack Obama' for an election but is defeated isn't this an enigma? Why not change your name to "Road Apples"? It's the same thing.

UN Passes Resolution: "Criminal To Criticize Islam"

March 13, 2011 By Frank For Liberty

"The UN passed a resolution calling for criminalization of criticism of Islam. As Obama plans to stock his administration with Muslims, it will be telling how he handles the implementation of OIC strategy to impose Islamic supremacism on the world. What will Obama do and say about this resolution, which seeks to protect Islam and criminalize criticism of it (as determined by the OIC)? Dr. History points out that nothing is said about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Ba’hai, Zorastrianism, Buddhism etc.

And considering how anti-semitic the Quran is, as are Islamic teachings, does this legitimize Jew hatred and make it a crime to speak out against it"?

Eric Holder: Dept. of Justice Racist Edict

From Ted Nugent: Washington Times:

"Flunking is the new norm at racist Eric H. Holder Jr.'s Department of Injustice. In yet another ugly, blatant and defining racist move, Mr. Holder is forcing the city of Dayton, Ohio, to lower the passing threshhold on the test for those wanting to be police officers because not enough black recruits passed the exam.

Instead of attracting the best and brightest to serve the public, racist Mr. Holder will now ensure that the good residents of Dayton will be protected by dunce cops who score the equivalent of a D or F on the entrance exam.

Entrance exam scores may also be lowered for firefighters so that more black applicants can be accepted.

What Mr. Holder clearly wants by forcing his racist substandards on the good citizens of Dayton is to ensure people he favors get a fair shake at becoming cops by lowering the standards to such a degree that there might as well not be any entrance exams.

Before long, the question "Can you tie your shoes?" will be deemed racially insensitive".

Cat People Can Be Mean

The Japanese People

Who doesn't hate a tragedy? Even when there's an earthquake in Iran and thousands die I say a prayer for those who suffer. Since the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan I've been reading quite a few sources on what's going on in the country. I've been doing some comparisons on what would be the response in this country if we were subjected to this disaster. Understand that I'm picking and choosing but it's mental fertilizer for me. There was a story about 160 engineers exposing themselves to radiation by trying to shut down the nuclear reactors. I'd like to think we have some guys do the same. You know what I haven't seen; rioting in the streets, vandalism running rampant. There haven't been any pictures of people leaving appliance stores with televisions over their heads. Have you noticed young people looting? Not I. Think back to Katrina. Well, maybe you shouldn't. It should cause embarrassment.
There could be up to 10,000 deaths in Japan. That's horrible. Maybe there's a media crackdown in Japan. Has anyone started to play the blame game? Remember when the WTC's were destroyed and shortly thereafter Queen Hillary bloviated in the Senate, "Bush knew". Wasn't George Bush vilified by the media and Dems for his slow response in New Orleans after Katrina? Does one think the media drove this story along with Dems? If not, look up Ray "school bus" Nagin and Kathleen Blanco to see how well they performed. Nothing in Japan, to my knowledge has been politicized. What's wrong with these people? Aren't they normal and sophisticated like us?
To date, our leaders and citizens could take a lesson from the Japanese on working together to solve problems and alleviating the consequences of a 'Natural Disaster'.
In the meantime our President could show a little more concern for the people from The Land of the Rising Sun by staying off the golf course.

Agony

How would you like to wake up to this every day? Does the phrase "rode hard and put away wet" come to mind? Poor Hillary, it's the price one pays for being 'the smartest woman in the world'. Understand, I'm not trying to pick on her even though she is Golda Meir's twin. She's had enough problems trying to defend herself against unwarranted attacks within and outside her party. She's had to fight off charges against Whitewater, Cattle futures, threats against Bill's girlfriends and Vince Foster.
I'm not trying to pick on her. Like hell, I'm not!

March Madness

This blog will elicit more commentary than any political piece I could muster. It's because sports is the most important thing in the world or so were led to believe.
I always watch the NCAA bracket show to see which college teams get in the Big Dance. This year I can honestly write that "I don't care". Not one Iowa team got in. It's difficult when three of your state schools are under .500 for a winning percentage.
The Big Ten got, what, seven schools in. Michigan State? That's a joke. Penn State? Same thing. Michigan? Another joke. There are a slug of mid-major schools that get jobbed each year. If one doesn't think a mid-major should receive strong consideration then you've never heard of Butler.
The University of Colorado, opinion only, was robbed. The Big 12-----ditto. They deserved more than five teams.
The moral of the story is this. If you want preferential treatment for your conference and school have your athletic director head the selection committee. It worked for the Big Ten having seven schools in the dance. Who is the head of the committee? Why it's Gene Smith from Ohio State.

If you are clueless when you see Big 10, Big 12, NCAA, mid-major etc., don't worry about it. It's not that important. If you do care, isn't Jimmer Fredette a cool name?

No Surprise Here

From:Newsbusters.com:

Numerous death threats were made against Wisconsin Republican lawmakers last week, but you wouldn't know about it if your only news sources were ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NBC, and NPR.
A radio station obtained this email, quote: "Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will be killed due to your actions I(sic) the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell," unquote. Wisconsin authorities are taking this stuff seriously. They have a suspect, has not been charged as far as we know.

Not taking this seriously were ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NBC, and NPR. LexisNexis and closed-caption dump searches of "Wisconsin and 'death threat'" produced zero results for these so-called news outlets throughout the month of March.

When you compare this to the hysterical coverage of last year's Tea Party rallies and town hall protests, where conservatives were regularly depicted as either hostile or fomenting violence, one has to wonder how actual death threats against sitting politicians would not be considered newsworthy.

This seems particularly curious after all the talk about hostile rhetoric immediately following the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in January.

Now, less than two months later, actual death threats against politicians are being investigated in Wisconsin, and five major news outlets are boycotting the story.

Prescription Pills

Call this a public service memo if you want. The Ohio Department of Public Safety has sent out a 'heads up' memo. If you have your home on the market beware of thieves. No, I don't mean the kind who come into your home and steal silverware though that is a strong possibility. A public safety spokesperson states that 'phony buyers' scope out bathroom medicine cabinets looking for prescription pills to ingest or sell.
Being the rube that I am this sort of activity never once crossed my mind.
Anyway, it's another sign of the times and not a good one is it?

Growing Up Too Soon

There are certain life experiences that are bittersweet. As much as I don't like it my grandchildren keep on growing and maturing. We had my almost four year, Paige, with us in Florida. I have eight grand kids; four boys and girls each. "Peanut Paige' is a hugger. She said to me, "Grandpa, I want you to be with me forever"! Then she gave me a hug and a kiss so I went out and bought her a pony. No, I didn't but I would have.
Some of my kiddies are huggers and some aren't. Three and a half year old Vievie isn't. Just prior to Christmas she was sitting next to me on the couch and I bent over to pick her up and put her on my lap. The next thing I heard was, "Hey, Mister. Keep your hands to yourself". She's a tough nut, alright.
My first born grandson, the Big O, is my buddy and the oldest at age six. He's always been a hugger and not afraid to give me a kiss. On Friday I picked him up from kindergarten. Since I hadn't seen him since mid-January I was excited to see how much he'd changed. I knew he'd lost his two front teeth. I waited for him excitedly as he trudged across the school parking lot, his hood pulled nearly all the way over his head. I had planned what I was going to do when he saw me. As he approached he said, "Hi Grandpa" and stuck out his hand in a perfunctory manner as I shook it. I didn't hold his hand as we walked to the car. When we were strapped in he said, "Grandpa, thank you for not kissing and hugging me in front of my friends".
I think Peter Pan had the right idea.

This Guy Has Become Famous

This is the second common sense article I've read from Mr. Huber. He's getting to be quite famous. Tawas City is located north of Port Huron, Michigan on the east side of the state, bordering on Lake Huron. I took the liberty of going to whitepages.com and Huber is listed. I think I'll drop him a line.

Fluff Stuff

How 'bout some "fluff stuff" today? It's a Friday and I awoke to find new snow cover on the ground; not much but some. Anyway, the coffee's perked, there's too much seriousness in the world and I want to relax.
I went to bed semi-normal, physically, last night. How is it I woke up with a sprained left thumb? The mind boggles at this piece of info. I hope I got in some good licks before the guy beat the tar out of me.
The next time you're on the US interstate system and feel like you want a good cup of coffee stop in at Love's Truck Stops or Pilots. They have fabulous coffee. Personally, I like Love's Brazilian blend. I consider myself somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. That's why I use Giant Eagle French roast. Why spend five bucks more for Folgers when it's the same thing. Actually, my favorite, when the price is right, is Eight O'clock French Roast. I take my coffee thus: it has to have the consistency of dark chocolate jello pudding. The test for strength being that the stir spoon stands up. Once in awhile, just to be devilish, I'll add a shot or two of espresso: Mmmmm, Mmmmmm, good!
I stopped into Starbuck's in Brownsburg, Indiana two days ago for a middle sized cup. I can never remember the Grande, Venti thing. They asked for $2.13. Adios, Starbucks.
Last July I was at the lake by myself. Right before I left for Minnesota I took a sneak peak at the bathroom scale with me on top. Nuts! It read 227. Since I detest cooking and knew I would be at the lake sans anyone I realized the opportunity to drop some Lbs. My buddy had introduced me to a terrific protein powder(Visalus). So, for twenty-eight days I ate: protein shake for breakfast, one for lunch and for dinner two baked potatoes with peas, onions and catsup(you say ketchup, I say catsup) on top. Voila! At the end of the month I'm at 202. I'm going to market this new diet and call it "STARVATION-It works every time". Well, Yesterday morning I had that same, 'let's get on with it feeling' I had in July of '10 except at 9pm I lost my mind and went to the local ice cream store-----nearly a half gallon of strawberry cheesecake later--------Oh! I don't even want to go there.
We get my grandson for the week-end. I haven't seen him since early January. Don't expect any news until late Sunday.
Enjoy the week-end. Have a cup of mud on me.

Oh Crap!!

RIPON, Calif. (CBS13) — When Allan Sloan hired a plumber to get to the bottom of his chronic plumbing problems, he discovered his home had never been connected to the city’s sewer line.

For more than 23 years, the Ripon resident’s waste had been deposited underneath his front lawn.

Sloan said sewage backed up into his home on a recent Friday night through the shower, toilet and sink, filling the house with a foul odor and forcing him to call for help.

“It just backed up tremendously, it was just disgusting,” Sloan said.

"On Wisconsin", This Explains Everything

"We're prepared to do whatever it takes to kill the bill or shut it down," said Daniel Ginsberg of Milwaukee, an organizer with Students for a Democratic Society".
From Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel

Relaxing on the couch and waiting for the Big Ten basketball tournament to begin I'm doing what I do best: surfing the TV channels. Madison, Wisconsin is a boiling cauldron of SEIU members, ragamuffin college students wearing U of W sweatshirts, and, yes, groups of radicals from the Students for a Democratic Society, aka communist revolutionaries with the group started by Bill Ayers.
Isn't it strange that the media doesn't report on this. I wonder if the Tea Party was doing what these birds are trying to accomplish would they, too, receive a pass?

Hey! Jesse Jackson is on the telly right now. Uh-oh, a kid with an orange stocking cap, beard and an ear ring was escorted by the Highway Patrol out of the building. There goes another one; a kid in another U of W sweatshirt. Hey! Another hoodlum is being manhandled by the security forces. He's laughing and I could see him mouth the words, "Hi Mom". Jesse's playing his patented rant: "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Today's mantra from JJ is 'Recall and Revolt'. He just compared Madison with Cairo. What does a town in the most southern part of Illinois have to do with Madison, Wisconsin?

In closing, why is Jesse there? I've only seen one black person in the crowd.

Things To Ponder About Public Sector Employees

Ann Coulter's most recent column, "Six-Figure Bus Drivers And Other Working Class Heroes" is typical of her work; it pulls no punches. I've taken the liberty of pulling excerpts from her column. Maybe it'll give food for thought. It seems to me there are so many things about the "collective bargaining" aspect that the average lay person doesn't understand. I know this. For twenty years I signed an individual teaching contract and no one ever held a gun to my head. When I'd had enough I'd had enough and moved on.

"Can we stop acting as if people who work for the government are the heroes of working people?
Fine, we understand that Wisconsin public sector employees like the system that pays them an average of $76,500 per year, with splendiferous benefits, and are fighting like wildcats against any proposed reforms to that system. But it's madness to keep treating people who are promoting their own self-interest as if they are James Meredith walking into the University of Mississippi.
This isn't how we usually view people fighting for their own economic interests".

"MSNBC is covering the fight in Wisconsin as if it's the 9/11 attack -- and the Republicans are al-Qaida. Its entire prime-time schedule is dedicated to portraying self- interested government employees as if they're Marines taking on the Taliban. The network's Ed Schultz bellows that it is "morally wrong" to oppose the demands of government employees.
Yes, and I guess pornographers are noble when they launch a full-scale offensive against obscenity laws.
Public sector workers are pursuing their own narrow financial interests to the detriment of everyone else in their states. That's fine, but can we stop pretending it's virtuous?

"Because of the insane union contracts in Wisconsin, one Madison bus driver, John E. Nelson, was able to make $159,000 in 2009 -- about $100,000 of which in overtime pay. Jackie Gleason didn't make that much playing bus driver Ralph Kramden on "The Honeymooners." Seven bus drivers took home more than $100,000 that year.
When asked about the outrageous overtime pay for bus drivers -- totaling $1.94 million in 2009 alone -- Transit and Parking Commission Chairman Gary Poulson said: "That's the contract."

"Fine, we like teachers, firemen and police officers. We appreciate them. (And for the record, it is statistically more dangerous to be a farmer, fisherman, steelworker or pilot than a cop or fireman. Soldiers also have pretty dangerous jobs, and they don't get to strike.)
Does that mean we should pay them $1 million dollars a year? How about $10 million? After all, these are the people who educate our kids, run into burning buildings and take dangerous criminals off our streets"!

"Why do public sector employees have absurd overtime rules? Why don't they pay for their own health insurance? Why do they get to retire at age 45 with a guaranteed pension of 65 percent of their last year's pay -- as state police in New Jersey do?

This is asymmetrical warfare. Seven percent of the population cares intensely about public sector union contracts -- and nothing else. The remaining 93 percent of voters can't be bothered to care.

Meanwhile, state after state spirals into bankruptcy".
