The Most Important Aspect Of America

About ten years ago I was listening to WLW radio out of Cincinnati. The talk show host was Mike McConnell a long time favorite in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. Hos topic of the day was what is most important to Americans. There were a myriad of callers who offered their opinions. Finally, toward the end of the show, McConnell said, "The most important aspect to Americans in their every day lives is sports. Sports make this country run". We'll soon find out.

It's a Thursday slightly shy of noon and I sat down to watch the Big Ten basketball tournament. It's been canceled due to the virus. It may be that the entire NCAA will be gone. The National Basketball Association has suspended its season. Others will follow suit.

It's going to be interested to find out what will replace sports. Will the birth rate rise? That's a given.
Think about it.

Sports bars will suffer. The first day of the NCAA's is a money maker above any other day. It'd be like businesses shutting down between Thanksgiving and  Christmas. On a positive note there will be less DWD's on the highways which translates to less auto deaths and associated calamities.

Schools have already began to shut down. There's a huge downside to this. Parents will still be required to go to work yet the kiddies will be home to do homework? I don't think so.

With the loss of sports in this country for however long it takes to get back on the proper footing there will be massive sports withdrawal. I don't know the ramifications but it's going to be interesting to find out.
