I love my country. I love almost everything about it. The problem is I fear my government. To be honest I've never lived in this type of turmoil we are now witnessing. I'm sick to my stomach and I'm scared.
I oftentimes go to Bing and ferret out information on different communites in the country: It's for my personal enjoyment only but there are so many different towns in this nation that have so much to offer. Don't get me wrong. Dublin, Ohio is one of the best of the best. We love this place. I never in my youth thought I'd end up in a more picturesque communities with so many different amenities to offer.
Even so, I still look around but only for the hey of it.
Lately, as I view our landscape, I've been broadening my horizons on places to live. Last night I thought, why not consider moving to Ireland? I'm certain they don't have the social problems we're going through. I've been to the Emerald Isle a couple of times; visited Dublin and Shannon. Big cities are the same anywhere especially English speaking ones. But, if one leaves the cities and goes into the rural areas it's a whole new ballgame.
I'm sick of the turmoil going on in the U.S. I mentioned to the Queen we should give thought to moving to Ireland. It's only a five hour flight if we should have to come home. Our children have their own lives as do our grandchildren. We only see them a couple times a year, anyway so it's not like our lives would be drastically changed if we made the switch.
My wife's grandmother as was her grandfather were born on the southern tip of Ireland is a smallish village. The government of Ireland allows visitors to stay 3 months before they have to leave BUT if one has a parent or grandparent who were born there said person can apply for permanent residence.
This means Her Majesty is in immediately. I would be allowed to stay if our combined incomes were at $110,000 a year. It's doable but it'd be a stretch.
The big problem is the tax structure would be a good deal higher than it is in this country but one has to make choices. Do we want to live in a place with constant turmoil, rioting and murder or do we want our golden years to be filled with peace and tranquility without fear of constant rioting and inept government officials making our lives worse?
