My Bad. I'd Never Heard Of Juneteenth Until The Media Told Me

Donald Trump is on his way to Tulsa on June 19 for the first of his presidential rallies. The MSM is up in arms. I did not know, and I'm a history major, that that date in 1865 is considered the actual date for the end of slavery in the U.S.

When Lincoln gave the Emancipation Proclamation at Gettysburg in 1863 slaves were emancipated in states other than those in non Confederate states.

God love my black brothers but it seems to me they already have quite a few reminder dates. Juneteenth is not a federal holiday but some congressmen are working on that injustice. If so, Blacks will have Dr. MLK Day, Ms. Black America pageant, Mrs. Black America pageant, Kwanza, Black history month in February.

And, finally, another day that caught me by surprise. It's called Remembering Loving Day.

It's the celebration of interracial marriages. Who knew?
