When we first adopted Charlie we didn't give much thought to the demands. Remember when you brought home your first child from the hospital. You cooed and made googly sounds and kissed their necks.
As they grew they got everything they wanted and for what did they do in return? Well, they eliminated their bladders and bowels and you cleaned the mess. They laid on the back in a crib and looked up at plastic toys you provided for them.
This is the scenario with Charlie. Everytime I go to Kroger I buy him special treats. He's we fed. Once in awhile he'll do a trick knowing full well a treat will follow. He sleeps whenever and wherever. He's got it 'made in the shade' so last week I said, "Enough of this nonsense."
I drove down to the Dublin School offices on got him a job as a school crossing guard. Luckily, they provide his rain gear. He's gone in the morning and in the afternoon. It's about time he started contributing to the family.
