The Queen and I got into a semi-heated discussion about Trump this morning until we both intelligently stopped it. You must understand I don't get into verbal arguments. I'm not a fighter. I can't count the number of times we've had arguments because there haven't been that many in our fifty years of being together. That's because my parents weren't strangers to fighting. I always promised myself when I saw a fight coming on the horizon that I'm not getting involved. If I feel it's inevitable I'll get in my car and go away. In my younger days I'd go to a bar. In 2020 I'll drive to church.
This morning the subject of Trump came up, probably by me. Regardless, she began to explain why people have a visceral hatred for him. You know the drill: he's arrogant, a braggart, makes fun of people on Twitter. Of course, I came back at her and stated, "I don't care." I tried to explain to her, without success, that Bobby Knight, Woody Hayes and Vince Lombardi were all the same way. Yet, they got the job done.
She was scaring me because the reasons people dislike, no the word is hate Trump, is because they, and I'll say it once again, don't like him. Feelings---Ick! That smacks of liberalism. I want results. Results like when Trump took office we were in seven wars, five of which were initiated by Obama, We're now down to one and will be out of it come Janaury. ISIS is history. Our unemployment rate is now, coming back from the PanicDema is now at 7.8%. The lowest Obama ever had his was 7.9%. Home fuel prices are low due to American oil independence. Food prices are low. I have more money in my pocket than ever before due to Trump's tax reductions. Trump got us out of the Paris Climate Accords. You might think these were if a good deal if you like giving your tax dollars to communist nations. He got us out of NAFTA. The same goes for my children who are raising teenagers and younger. I pulled up to the gas pump yesterday and filled up for $1.85 per gallon. The list of good things under this president is endless. All one has to do is google Trump accomplishments. I found 125 at Real Clear Politics and that's a site neither liberal or conservative.
Her Majesty, after I told her he is the best president in my lifetime asked, "Better than Reagan?" I answered in the affirmative and she thought I was nuts. That's no big deal. She thinks I nuts all the time. I tried to explain that Trump is dealing with far more that the Soviets and the Cold War.
My thought is the people who hate Trump don't look diligently at the alternative. What will they get with a Harris/Biden ticket because that's what it's going to be----in that order. Think about it. Can you imagine Kammy Harris making life decisions for you; carrying the nuclear football, dealing with Russian and Chinese leaders who only want to take over the world and leave us in the trash heap of history?
The real leader of our home raised her hand as if to say, "Enough", and strode off into the kitchen.
And that's it. I've evidently had an impact on her after all these years. She doesn't fight, either.
