This 'N That From Dublin Ohio

There's much going on in the life of the Hawkeye family and most of it deals with grandchildren. Our eldest will graduate in a week and #2 on the same date. The things parents do for their kids. When I graduated in 1964 high school I'm not really certain my parents went to the ceremony. After it was over I went home and crawled in bed.

Both of our grandchildren are having huge parties which is the reason Her Majesty is in Olathe, Kansas this weekend. As I understand it 70 people will be invited which shocks me because I don't know that many folks. As a former high school instructor I went through 20 graduation ceremonies and one thing always crossed my mind as it did when I received my diploma and it was---------what the heck is the big deal about high school graduation? Isn't this what's supposed to happen? As I understand it one can get their sheepskin by being able to read and write. At least that's what it was in the 'olden' days. Maybe the parents are throwing shindigs because of their great joy knowing one of their brood is leaving home.

Wanna know what just grinds my groin? Prior to golf I stopped at a Tim Horton's and bought a 12 oz. cup of coffee and one cinnamon bagel. The cost? $4 friggen dollars and forty-five dammit to hell cents. Can you imagine that? And the worst part is I PAID THE MONEY! I am such a fool!

I golfed today. I tried to golf today by playing with two other over 70 gentlemen. Both of them decided to walk the course. I haven't walk God's green acres in 7 years but being a guy who wants to get along I tried. I made it to hole #9 and hadn't puked but it was getting close. I think my eyeballs had rolled around so that the pupils were facing my brain. In other words, I was delirious. Today, I made an executive decision. If this 77 year old ever attempts to golf again I will play the senior tees and I will have a driving cart---------period!

This coming Tuesday I will load up my Suburu and head out for-----where else-----Olathe Kansas for the graduation ceremony. There are things a grandparent has to do even if they don't want to. If you think I'm wrong them remember back to when those kids were six year old cherubs and you had to attend their soccer game.

I have to admit something of a crush nature but it's okay because Her Majesty is aware of. If there's a Hallmark Movie starring Lacey Chabert I'll watch it for hours on end then press the replay button. Speaking of angels: I'm a big fan of America's Got Talent. Well, I'm much more interested in looking at You Tube views of young people with great musical talent. A week or so ago I came across a singer, age 13, from four years ago. Her name is Angelina Jordan. If you want to listen to a performance that to me is unimaginable in brilliance give the little lady a view. Miss Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 years old. She is remarkable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7YAKqhN61E

I'm excited and somewhat nervous about our search for a new rescue dog. I'm certain I'm looking for a Charlie clone which is probably why I search the internet for hours on end looking for Cairn Terriers. If you know of a rescue in need please contact me immediately.
