What A Way To Start The Day

On this glorious Sunday morning I awakened to the first day of daylight savings time, grabbed a cup o' joe and began reading what turned out to be more than depressing news. HELP! I can't take much more of this nonsense going on in the Middle East with oil production. Oh, there's been a change in emphasis on villains given to us by the media: every world problem is now Putin's fault. Trump has escaped blame for the time being. Did you know that Putin caused our gas prices to explode upward?

Let me regress. One of the first items on Joe's plate was to cancel the Keystone Pipeline. Prices immediately began rising at the pump. Over time Biden began making plans for Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and, yes, even Iran, to sell us petroleum products. Russia was invited to be an intermediary for us and Iran. Overnight, though, Iran lobbed 12 missiles toward the American embassy in Iraq. Gee, I hope this doesn't blow the oil deal. I have a question. Do you think Iran would have thrown missiles at us if DJT were occupying the Oval Office. Just askin'.

The current administration is very concerned with the impact of oil on our climate among other items on their plate; one of the reasons given for shutting down our production. Evidently, importing oil from across the oceans from countries who hate us is cleaner and better for the environment than our oil. Except this isn't quite true. Foreign imports are estimated to be filled with 40% more impurities than what we bring out of the ground.

I'm not an expert on any of these countries, petroleum, bombs, diplomacy or hundreds of other issues on our plate. What I am an expert in is understanding my two eldest grandchildren live a good distance from their high schools; one in Olathe Kansas and the other in Cincinnati. They have their own vehicles to ferry them to classes. Both worked to purchase their cars and have parttime jobs for maintenance upkeep in addition to their extracurricular activites.  Last fall I warned them come June of 2022 car fuel could max out at $7 or $8 dollars. Every couple of months I'll throw $200 at them to help with gas. Know what? That amount of money doesn't come close to covering their costs.

Happy Sunday everyone. Not to worry about what I've written. The NCAA basketball tournament teams will be announced today and we all know the most important life aspect in this country is sports.
