Rosie O'Donnell is returning to The View and, according to early news reports, received a standing O from the crowd(of brain dead people). Her big rant, as it has been for 12 plus years is that 9/11 was an inside job masterminded by GW. I am so happy Elisabeth Hasselback left for greener pastures. I'm sure she is, too. Rosie was a lot more fun before she flat lined. Her portrayal in "A League Of Their Own" was witty and full of enthusiasm. The same could be said for Janeane Garofalo before she became one of Dr. Frankenstein's subjects. Hollywood----it's a toddlin' town.

Obama: "Stop Killing The Innocents. But, He Wasn't Talking About Abortion
(CNSNews.com) – At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, President Barack Obama said that “killing the innocent” is the “ultimate betrayal of God’s will.” But the president was talking about terrorism, not abortion: “Extremists succumb to an ignorant nihilism that shows they don’t understand the faiths they claim to profess, for killing the innocent is never fulfilling God’s will. In fact, it is the ultimate betrayal of God’s will,” Obama said. Yet Obama is a long-time supporter of abortion rights -

New Candidates For Sainthood

We’ve all seen the wooden crosses and other roadside memorials to loved ones killed in automobile accidents. Three years ago, the Georgia Department of Transportation, deeming the makeshift memorials a distraction to drivers and a safety hazard, began offering to place state-approved memorials at the sites of fatal wrecks.
For a $100 fee, GDOT places a white sign with the name of the deceased under the words, “Drive Safely, In Memory.”
Wednesday, a member of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, filed an application with GDOT to have a memorial placed at the Hall County site where a truck hauling live chickens overturned on Jan. 27.

SEATTLE (CBS Seattle) – According to a recent study, fatal car crashes involving pot use have tripled in the U.S.
“Currently, one of nine drivers involved in fatal crashes would test positive for marijuana,” Dr. Guohua Li, director of the Center for Injury Epidemiology and Prevention at Columbia, and co-author of the study told HealthDay News.
Researchers from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health gathered data from six states – California, Hawaii, Illinois, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and West Virginia – that perform toxicology tests on drivers involved in fatal car accidents. This data included over 23,500 drivers that died within one hour of a crash between 1999 and 2010.

Sochi Olympics----Really?
Did you know the Olympics started today? I knew they were going to happen soon but I didn't realize today was the day. I did see numerous reports about bombs being planted in toothpaste tubes. Olympics aside, I read a story about an email that surfaced yesterday letting us know that the IRS did indeed target TEA Party groups to keep them from voting in the last election. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/02/smoking-gun-email-proves-irss-lois-lerner-treasury-dept-secretly-drafted-rules-targeting-conservatives/ Oh, jobless claims came out this morning for January. It seems like there were 331,000 for the month. We're still trying to catch up with the 5% unemployment figures from 2007. So much for the 'Summer of Recovery'.
Maybe I watch too much news. A friend asked me a couple of weeks ago why I watch so many different segments of Fox News: Cavuto, then The Five followed by Bret Baier. He said it's a repeat of what takes place all day. I think he's right but I'm a creature of habit and so it goes. Besides, I'm a normal 68 year old male. Try and tell me you wouldn't pay attention to a channel that had Elizabeth Hasselback, Martha MacCallum and Shannon Bream. And you'll notice I didn't even mention Megyn Kelly. She's more than a pretty face. If you don't believe me ask Rachel Maddow.
I've gotten out of the habit of viewing O'Reilly and Hannity. I haven't watched O'Reilly for a couple of years. He's so full of himself that it's nauseating. In his interview of Obama prior to the Super Bowl he stated that it(the interview) would be an Alpha male going up against an Alpha male--barf on me, please, and I'll take it without complaint.
Hannity re-chews his cabbage constantly. It's the same old same old: dirty air, shove grandma over the cliff. "C'mon Sean, come up with something new". As I write Pres. Obama is speaking at a prayer breakfast. He's quoting scripture from the Bible. "Gimme me a break". I know I think the way most people think. I've become a skeptic of anything government especially Washington D.C. government. Why? Because I'm convinced, now more than ever, that our congressmen are interested in two things: power and money. The Tweed Ring of the late 1880's were amateurs compared to what we have now.
Back to the Olympics. Is it like the Super Bowl for you that it was for me? Remember when I wrote I couldn't name one player on the Seattle team? I can't name one player in the U.S. contingent. I'm not in the minority, either. Don't we usually have a darling on ice who is vying for the title of world's best figure skater? I hope whoever she is she garners a 10.0. It's impossible for me to get excited about the Olympics. Think back to how upset we used to get at the East German team when they had women who were built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and saliva tests proved them to be brothers. I yearn for the old days when we went up against, not the Russians, but the Soviets. I want to see the hammer and sickle on the field of athletic battle. I want to hear USA! USA!
But, before I do that I have to go upstairs and check my tube of toothpaste. I want to make certain no one put a bomb in one of my shoes while I flew back from Florida a couple of weeks ago. I need to find out if George Soros runs this country or if we've turned it over to the Bilderburg Society. Is it me or does it seem like it's impossible to have a carefree, fun day, anymore.

Men Might Be Needier Than Women
For years I've thought that it's easier for a woman to adjust to being single than it is for men. Men, on average, are needier than women. The real trick is we don't want them to know it. Since my ex-wife(see blog 12-15-13) left for Texas on January 6 to help her brother recuperate from a hip replacement(he's needy, too) I've been living in what could honestly be referred to as a slime hole, aka a comfort palace. Granted, there are some guys who aren't this way. They are called 'Neat Niks'. My youngest son is a 'Neat Nik' When he was in first grade he ironed his own shirt collars so they'd look good. My son, the father of three and with another on the way is so neat he has been accused of being gay. My next door neighbor is another neat person. He'll make a nice meal for himself, one where actual cooking takes place and then as soon as he's finished he'll wash and dry the dishes. And get this, he actually puts the dishes away in a cupboard. He will clean up any crumbs that might fall on the floor. My thought is, "Why"? Doesn't breakfast arrive a few short hours later? Let the garbage lie there and clean it when it's convenient. That's what most guys would do if they were alone. A meal, for me, is not something to be enjoyed. It's a fuel. I won't eat dinner then ask myself, "My, wasn't the oregano tasty on the spaghetti". My menu, since the wife left, is this: milk for breakfast, tomato soup and crackers for lunch and chicken patties for dinner. They're easy to cook. If it can't be cooked in the microwave I don't want to eat it. You may not believe this but there are tons of men out there reading this blog who are saying, "I wish I could be like this guy".
I returned from an eleven day vacation in Florida on January 19 and dropped my suitcase on the bedroom floor. It's still there. I'll get around to hanging clothes when I feel like it. I did remove dirty laundry and plop them in the washing machine. I mean, when it comes to dirty underwear I do have my standards.
My wife makes the bed every day. There was a time when I would do it for her but I learned that if it's not made the way she wants she'll rip it apart and start over. She likes the sheets tucked in. I don't. Making a bed and cleaning dropped crumbs after dinner have their similarities. If I don't clean dropped food why make a bed? After all, I'm going to be using it twelve hours later. Plus, I don't bring friends into my bedroom so who would know.
Our garbage men come every Wednesday. Nowadays containers are provided for garbage. I forgot to take it out last week. No problem for me. Even though it was full of smelly stuff it'll keep until today.
Wives are important because, even though we men don't want to admit it, they keep us on our toes, especially when it comes to house cleaning and clothes and making your home look presentable. I think most men who are slobs are this way, not because they want to be, but because cleaning isn't fun. Men like fun things. Mowing a lawn can be fun. Shoveling snow isn't. We had snow last night; about four inches. Most of the men in our neighborhood have shoveled already. I'll give the guys hired by the condo association another couple of hours to do their job. I'd run right out and do it except there's nothing fun about shoveling.
Okay, I have my plan worked out for house cleaning. I'm leaving for Texas next Sunday to pick up the person who runs this place. I figure, if my schedule is right, beginning tomorrow afternoon I'll be able to clean the kitchen, vacuum the rugs, wash the dishes and throw everything in the washer and dryer that's possible. The garbage will be in my neighbors trash bin and I'll be on the road two days later.
When we do arrive back in Ohio the little lady, whether she believes it or not, will say, "My the house sure looks nice". I've worked forty-four years to get to this position in life. If I do slightly better than what's expected I can't go wrong and I'm a mini-hero.
One more tidbit for you. This blog might be worthy of a Bros. Grimm fairy tale, especially in my own mind.
