CeeCee Update
There is great joy in one household in Dublin, Ohio and it all came about because our rescued pooch, CeeCee, has come into her own. After twenty-seven days of watching the little lady show fear and anguish it's obvious she is beginning to like her new home. Three times she's wanted to rough house in a playful manner. After the third time I yelled out, "Go-go-go and she ran in circles from the dining room to the kitchen to the living room. For this adopted dad it was pure joy. CeeCee has been deathly afraid of two things: other dogs of any stripe and some adult men. This past week she approached another puppy and sniffed 'you know where'. As we walked the bike path behind our condo an elderly man was walking in front of us and she approached him with tail wagging. There was not one iota of fear in her eyes or body.
The Queen was in Minnesota for a few weeks and upon her return after walking through the front door the once shy doggie sniffed her leg for a few moments then began jumping up and down with enthusiasm . It made my heart swell. CeeCee doesn't like to sit next to me on the couch---yet. It's not a problem with Her Majesty. As soon as she sits down our gal will jump up and snuggle next to her.
When I say to her "let's go for a ride" she sprints to the front door. She loves riding in the car. Show me a dog that doesn't like a car ride and I'll show you a cat in dog's clothes.
It's only been one month since she came into our home. I've spent a great deal of time reading about how long it takes for a rescue to acclimate to their new dwellings. It can take up to six months and sometimes longer. CeeCee, I believe, is well ahead of schedule.
It's been a wonderful week with our lil' lady.

Dead Man Walking
A professional basketball player has died from an apparent heart attack at the age of 28.
Cabrera Adames, a Dominican basketball player who previously claimed to have myocarditis, reportedly suffered a heart attack last week.
The 28-year-old professional basketball player has since passed away.
Adames died while suffering a heart attack during a stress test.

She's With The Angels
Baby Madison was laid to rest yesterday morning in Plain City, Ohio. The funeral for the newborn found in a garbage dump truck was one of the saddest I've attended in my seventy-seven years.. Over two hundred citizens of Plain City and surrounding areas offered their prayers for the little girl who didn't stand a chance in life. The main speaker, of which there were three, gave one of the most enduring, heartfelt messages; one I'll remember for the rest of my life. The man is the county coroner and medical examiner from Madison County who performed the autopsy. Tears streamed as he gave us a message of distress and hope. The gentleman has performed over 500 autopsies on young people in his career. This little girl caused him to break down as he spoke in anguish.
To honor the child fourteen first responders surrounded her casket for the entire 90 minute service. This act did not go unnoticed by all in attendance. Never again would these men and women allow harm to come to God's most innocent lamb.

What? We're Still Here
Today is doomsday according to Greta Thunberg. There's still time though. It was five years ago today Greta Autism told us if we didn't fix global warming June 21, 2023 would be the day we all die. I'd better say a rosary then hit the confessional pronto.
We're Talkin' Plain City Ohio For God's Sake
There's a village of 4,000 souls living in rural Plain City, Ohio who received a sad shock last week. The community is located six miles west of Dublin and is one of those typical midwestern towns. I've always enjoyed visiting the place because it reminds me of so many towns in Iowa with its laid back citizens. There isn't much industry within its boundaries. In recent years the population has grown by 1,500 due to folks who work in the Columbus area. As with most rural towns the focal point of activity is centered around the local high school and its athletic teams. It's no different in Plain City. Jonathan Alder high school is usually a small school power in Ohio and the citizenry proudly tout their teams.
One week ago this idyllic village was shocked by what was discovered inside this dumpster; a garbage truck if you will. One of the workers came across a garbage bag and inside of it was the body of a baby girl with umbilical cord still attached. An autopsy was performed and it was estimated the baby died between the age of one day to thirty. Maybe, in a city the size of Columbus this might go unnoticed but in Plain City the people are dismayed and saddened to think their town is harboring someone who would murder this child. Oh, there'll be those who come out and make excuses; the mother was mentally ill, she was so upset she couldn't think straight. You know the drill. Regardless, this finding of one of God's angels gives me great pause. Our society is off the track. We've spiralled out of control. Anymore, it seems anything goes. So sad.
The child has been given the name of Madison. Plain City is located in Madison County. There will be a funeral service this upcoming Saturday. I expect there will be hundreds in attendance.
