The Recession Is Over

The cover of this weeks Newsweek magazine states, "the recession is over". Obama says so, too. His comment is that the stimulus is doing it's job. What, maybe 10% is in the hands of the people. Keep it up, Barry, and you might have some of your cronies believing it.

Un-Freakin Believable

During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Useless Eaters

Have you heard the term, "useless eaters" yet? It's fairly simple and is part of H.R. 3200 or the Obama Health Care bill. In essence, what it says is when YOU or Your Parents reach a certain age they will be required to visit government mandated counselors to tell you about end of life choices. Furthermore, these Brave New World experts will explain that it might be best if you failed to take proper steps to stay alive. This is one way to keep Social Security around awhile longer. I volunteer at a home for folks with dementia. Seriously, how quickly will these senior citizens, without their knowledge, have a needle stuck in their arm? It's the same system we use to eliminate those folks who get the needle at the big house except mom and dad have earned the right to go out on their terms.

Are They Worth It?

Each and every congressmen receives a salary of $174,000. Lotsa questions to be asked on this one. Just a couple, though: (1) how many days do they work? I don't think there's a correct answer to this one. Senator Obama, a first termer, 'worked' five months before announcing his candidacy. (2) what are the perks; (3) do they get their own toilet facilities; (4) are they worth the 170K?

One Lousy Beer

A guy goes all the way from Massachusetts to Washington D.C. and all he gets is one lousy beer. Michelle wants a new dress and Air Force One takes her to Paris before the prez can say, "yes dear".

Democrat Insensitivity

The Democrats (despite their assurances) surely haven’t read all of what’s in their health care bill. There’s no way they would have let this slip had they really done so…?
The proposed health-insurance bill from the House of Representatives refers to mentally disabled people as “retarded” — a term advocates, relatives and physicians find outdated and offensive.
The bill refers to: “A hospital or a nursing facility or intermediate-care facility for the mentally retarded . . .”
In 1994, then-Vice President Gore referred to Republican Senate candidate Oliver L. North’s supporters as “the extra-chromosome right wing”. As we all know, having that extra chromosome can result in the development of Down syndrome. With that, there is growing consensus that insensitivity is a trait inherent to Democrats.
No big deal. Democrats will abort the unfit (retarded) so why show them any compassion in the first place.
By the way, I didn't write this piece. Pretty good, isn't it.

Another Obama Crony Thug

Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. has his own tax-exempt, non-profit. The problem is he doesn’t seem to helping the blacks he now comes off as championing. The monies appear to be going to fellow clean and articulate elites… like himself.
Henry Louis Gates, Jr controls a tax-exempt, non-profit charity, Inkwell Foundation, Inc, that managed to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in direct support in one year, yet only gave out $27,500 in grants, the bulk of which went to Gates’ employees and Harvard colleagues.
Also, as recently as September 2008, the Boston Globe reported that Gates’ charity was not in compliance with the law for failing to register the proper paperwork, despite the charity existing since 2005. In fact, the state Attorney General’s office told the Globe the charity was likely either inactive, or dissolved. Yet, documents below show the charity is healthy, wealthy and active.
Hmmm. Could this be the reason why the renowned Professor Gates freaked out when the police arrived?

Joe Biden: Wall Street Journal

"Can you see Putin sitting in Moscow saying, 'Jesus Christ, Iran gets the nuclear weapon, who goes first?' Moscow, not Washington.”
Is it me or is Joe being blasphemous. Joe, it's one thing to be sitting on a bar stool talking to your buddies with a martini in one hand and pointing a finger with the other. But to sit and talk to the Wall Street Journal using a reverent name in an irrevernt fashion is despicable. Don't anyone ever tell me Sarah Palin lacks 'gravitas'.

Another Boondoggle: Cash For Clunkers

Let’s see, you can currently buy a 20-year-old gas hog for $200 to $500 and get one that actually runs. Then run down to your dealer and trade it in and get your $4500 in trade making a quick 900% profit. The taxpayers foot the bill and everyone else is happy. What a stupid, stupid law. Is this the change we voted for?

Scofflaw Barry

From Newsmax:
One reason Barack Obama may think the Cambridge Police Department is "stupid" is that he has a grudge against the law enforcement agency.
Obama, who attended Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991, lived in Cambridge, and apparently didn't like the fact he was frequently hit with parking tickets.
In all Obama received 17 tickets for parking violations -- and never paid 15 of them until he was exposed by a local Massachusetts newspaper as a scofflaw.
According to a 2007 Associated Press story, Obama was a parking ticket deadbeat for more than a decade -- and only felt the need to pay the 15 outstanding parking tickets as his presidential campaign began in earnest in 2007.
Here is the Associated Press story detailing Obama's negligence:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama got more than an education when he attended Harvard Law School in the late 1980s. He also got a healthy stack of parking tickets, most of which he never paid.
The Illinois Senator shelled out $375 in January – two weeks before he officially launched his presidential campaign – to finally pay for 15 outstanding parking tickets and their associated late fees.
The story was first reported Wednesday by The Somerville News.
Obama received 17 parking tickets in Cambridge between 1988 and 1991, mostly for parking in a bus stop, parking without a resident permit and failing to pay the meter, records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show.
He incurred $140 in fines and $260 in late fees in Cambridge in all, but he paid $25 for two of the tickets in February 1990.
Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, dismissed the tickets as not relevant.
"He didn't owe that much and what he did owe, he paid," Psaki said on Wednesday. "Many people have parking tickets and late fees. All the parking tickets and late fees were paid in full."

Racist

I'm going to say it. Our President is a racist. He's a race baiter, plain and simple.
Barry's trying to save his butt by having Gates and Crowley to the White House "for a beer". "C'mon over for a beer and we'll have a backyard talk", says the prez. Why couldn't he ask the guys to come in for a talk? What the hell is this beer thing?
My great wish is that Sgt. Crowley send a message that he's too busy fighting crime to have this type of distraction. Maybe Sharpton and J. Jackson could take his place.

Stupidly

Black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates. Does the word 'scholar' actually have a special significance? To me, it means someone who reads more books than their neighbor. Gates, my guess only, created a flap in Cambridge, Mass. the other day. Too bad he didn't shut up when asked to show his ID otherwise O-man wouldn't be doing the mea culpa thing now for saying something really, really stupid.

Then Why Are We There

If I paid attention long enough I'd be able to answer my own query about Hirohito. It didn't take long. Obama says victory in Afghanistan isn't that important. Tell that to wives who have lost husbands and parents who have lost sons.
President Obama has put securing Afghanistan near the top of his foreign policy agenda, but "victory" in the war-torn country isn't necessarily the United States' goal, he said Thursday in a TV interview.
"I'm always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur," Obama told ABC News.
The enemy facing U.S. and Afghan forces isn't so clearly defined, he explained.
"We're not dealing with nation states at this point. We're concerned with Al Qaeda and the Taliban, Al Qaeda's allies," he said. "So when you have a non-state actor, a shadowy operation like Al Qaeda, our goal is to make sure they can't attack the United States."
The United States and Afghanistan are struggling to shore up security in the country, amid increasing violence. The Obama administration this year stepped up U.S. military operations in the country as the U.S. military presence begins to wind down in Iraq.

History Goofup

I let the wife in my man-cave tonight to watch ABC News. This is the depth of my love for her. In no particular order NBC, ABC and CBS news give me much anxiety(more like hatred). Terry Moran, O's chief rear end licker, asked the Man a question about I don't know what. Anyway, Obama's answer was, "it was just like when Hirohito met with Douglas MacArthur to sign the surrender papers". Someone, please give the lad a history book.
Consider this though. As long as were messing with history let's say that Obama was on the USS Missouri that fateful day and Hirohito was there, too. Wouldn't it be God meeting God?

Dow Jones

The Dow was up over 9,000 today. Do you think the Obamaites are in a joyful tizzy over this news? Well, I'm sure they'll try to make hay but it might be that the vaunted health care plan is halfway down the outhouse opening and Wall Street is rejoicing.

Glenn Beck Speaks

Personally speaking(writing), I think the radio talk show host, Glenn Beck, is leading a movement in this country. He's not Republican or Democrat. He says he's a Libertarian. If so, he says a lot of good things and the following is one of them.

"I told you on Tuesday, we're not capitalist anymore. We are closer to socialist, but we aren't that either, because we are in some sort of a transition period. We are running towards a destination. Our job is to find out what that destination is and then decide if that's what we want to be.
I mean, we've got czars now. Czars like John Holdren, who has proposed forcing abortions and putting sterilants in the drinking water to control population.
The latest is the nominee for regulatory czar, a Harvard Law professor named Cass Sunstein, who is a friend of Obama's and embraces the ever-so-popular '"senior death discount" that calculates the lives of younger people as having a greater value than those of the elderly. And he also believes in giving legal rights for livestock, wildlife and pets so they can file lawsuits.
Human rights for livestock? This is not the America I grew up in."

Guess Who

Have you heard this one a million times----minimum? "Let me be perfectly clear". As I've said before, when he says this, are there other times when he's not being clear? As in perfectly.
I didn't watch the President's major health care speech tonight. His speech patterns drive me to eat poison mushrooms. I read the 'major speech' online as he read it off the teleprompter then watched O'Reilly give his analysis along with two mainstream media talking heads. From all indications O-man was all over the map.
I don't want to call this a victory for all of us but the polls will be out in a few days and the lad's in trouble.
Could it be 1994 redux all over again?

Why Can't We Have Congressional Health Care?

Ever since I've read about the health care provided members of congress I get exasperated. The reason is due to the fact that I can't have any of it. Well, last week, with Democrat support, the congress opted out of that health care that Obama wants to shove down our throats. The Great One, himself, stated that he would not have anything to do with his plan and would elect to keep his current option. The article written came from AP Politics and it gives you a good idea of how John Q. Citizen is viewed.

Throughout last year's presidential campaign and this year's debate over
fixing the nation's health care system, lawmakers have delivered the same refrain: that the American people deserve the same kind of health care that members of Congress get.
In reality, the 435 members of the House of Representatives, the 100 members of the Senate and President Barack Obama get a pretty sweet deal, better than most Americans.
"Do they have better health care? A little, anyway," said Steve Ellis, the vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, a government watchdog group. "They do get some things that other people don't: access to doctors, military medical facilities."
Obama and members of Congress are among the more than 8 million federal employees, retirees and dependents who get their insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, the largest employer-sponsored health insurance program in the country.
Because of its size, the program offers federal workers dozens of health plans to choose from, instead of the two or three that corporations and businesses typically offer their workers.
Like everyone else in the federal plan, what Obama and lawmakers pay depends on the level of coverage they choose. On average, the federal government pays 72 percent of the total premium.
"The federal employee plan is more generous than coverage most people have in the private sector," said Mark McClellan, a health care analyst at the Brookings Institution and a former Food and Drug Administration commissioner under President George W. Bush.
"It's probably similar to coverage that people in large established corporations get, and better than what you get if you're in a small business. It's not the creme de la creme, but it's better than what most Americans are getting."
Lawmakers also receive perks beyond the federal care offerings. For an annual fee of $503, they can receive health services from the Office of the Attending Physician, a fully staffed $2.5 million medical office located in the Capitol. It's primarily there to respond to emergency needs of lawmakers, staff and visitors to the Capitol. Its services include acute medical care, health assessments, X-ray, lab and diagnostic services.
Lawmakers can also get medical treatment at military hospitals, including the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where presidents get their annual check-ups, and at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
"I would like to have that," Ellis said. "Anyone who's had to call their (health care) provider to make an appointment, that perk would be good to have."
That's not likely to happen anytime soon. McClellan said it would cost nearly $2 trillion to get Americans up to congressional-level health care.
Obama also gets in-house medical attention through the White House medical unit, which has a team of military doctors, nurses, physician assistants, medics and administrators. The unit has examination rooms, medications and medical equipment in the White House.
"It's like a mini urgent-care center," Dr. E. Connie Mariano, former President Bill Clinton's White House physician, told CNN in 2004.
The president also takes his health care on the road with him aboard Air Force One. Obama travels with a White House physician, and the presidential jet is equipped with an operating table and operating room lights in case of an emergency.

Obama: "Haven't Read Health Plan"

The Heritage Foundation quotes an article from Investors Business Daily. Continue reading and as you do try to understand the aura of Mr. Empty Suit.

With the public’s trust in his handling of health care tanking (50%-44% of Americans disapprove), the White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.
During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)
This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.

No Obamacare

From the Boston Herald for July 21. Simple article to understand. Thank you, Holly Robichaud

Obama’s plan to reform health care is dangerous. It is not the right prescription for the United States.

Here are some concerns to consider:

1. Government should not take over 17% of GNP. To quote Michael Steele, it is “reckless.”
2. Joe Biden admitted that the Obama administration “misread” the economy. That mistake cost us $787 billion. What if the Obama administration is wrong about their health care plan? It could cost us trillions of dollars.
3. As I have stated before, if the government-run plan is so great, then why are no Congressional Democrats supporting the amendment to require that lawmakers use the same system?
4. Did you know that if a government health care bureaucrat denies a medical procedure, you cannot pay for it with your own money? You will not be allowed to privately hire doctors. And they say there is no rationing happen in this bill.
5. Check out this chart on how it will work. 88 government agencies will oversee health care.
6. How does the agency of “Cultural & Linguistic Competence Training” improve health care or lower the costs?
7. Here in Massachusetts we already know that when the government interfere that costs increase. Over the past 2 years, small business have been hit hard with a 50% increase in health insurance premiums. The cause of this drastic increase is the government mandates.
8. The Obama Administration claims that their plan is not going to add to the national debt. No one can believe that hogwash! According to the President, this plan will save money because people will no longer visit emergency rooms for non-emergencies. Yeah right. That’s what they thought here in Massachusetts. Emergency rooms visits have not decreased.
9. Health care costs will continue to rise under this bill. For example, it does not address the issue of medical liability. With costs skyrocketing, the middle class will be forced to join the government-run insurance option and hence we will have socialized medicine.
Overall we have the best health care system in the world. Let’s fix it not ruin it!

O's Poll Numbers

I happened to catch the Rasumussen poll out today and it shows Der Leaders numbers are still in free fall. One constant is that Black voters continue to support O with 97% approval. This is understable considering he's doing to them what every other Democrat has done since the end of the War Between The States.

Obama Bumper Stickers

I don't see many Obama bumper stickers anymore. Maybe it's because people are cleaning up old business and with their Jughead as president they've made their point and scraped them off the chrome. It might be wishful thinking on my part that the worm is turning and some lights are going on in peoples heads. I mean, we had to put up with Kerry-Edwards stickers throughout the Bush administration. My neighbor, three condos down, had O bumper stickers on their cars until three weeks ago. One of their kids is at Ohio University so I'll cut her some slack for being young and stupid. I did notice the parents vehicle sticker had gone AWOL. That was encouraging. I get paranoid when I still see cars out on the road with our leaders name on it. I was at Starbucks yesterday, eyed an Obama logo that looks like the Pepsi ad and next to it was a Bishop Watterson H.S. sticker. That offends me.Watterson is a Catholic school.
If a vehicle with the sticker is in transit I'll speed up to see who is behind the wheel to satisfy my curiosity about what kind of idiot would be doing this. Then, as I speed around I shake my head in scorn, hoping that they see me. It's dumb and childish but it makes me feel mentally superior. There are three or four categories of humans who make up the Obama supporters: The first are college kids and I find that they are typically young ladies; the idealism in them is haunting but they'll get over it when they get married. If they experience a divorce it's back to the government trough. If they remarry they'll become whatever their new husband desires, especially if his occupation is a notch above a cable TV repairman; someone higher up on the food chain. College guys are too busy drinking beer and trying to get laid to care much about politics. Beer and sex are sequential unless there's a good sports game on TV. Then it's beer and sports.
Another group of Obamites are from a certain minority. I think 99.99999999999% of this population voted for Barry so they get a pass. I understand their joy. The third group are, and forgive me for this, very large and very homely women. I'm stereotyping, of course, but I throw them in with the Bella Abzug NOW crowd. Hear them roar!!
I'll see pickups that have Obama bumper stickers and next to it reads another announcement, "member of 2044 pipefitters-proud to be union". The hilarous thing about these trucks is there are rusted out holes all over the wheel wells and the rear end tilts in one direction due to a nearly broken axle. They're proud to be union and driving around in a pile of junk. I'd rather have a bumper sticker that reads: "Thank God for Merrill Lynch and this very cool Mercedes Benz".
Lastly, come the seasoned citizens. Unless they are Florida snowbirds a heck of a bunch of them vote Democrat. These FDR'ers still think the party who gave them a faux "social security lockbox" are the ones to save them. I'm trying to figure out how people who are going to see their health care rationed continue to support a failed party and a failed system. If they come down with a bad cold someone might as well put them on and ice floe and shove 'em out in the Arctic. However, my mother-in-law, at the time of the 2004 election, called my wife, her daughter, to tell her about a nice young man named Dennis Kucinich who came to speak at their nursing home. God bless my now deceased ninety year old mom in law. The wife let her know that her dad would not allow the "squirt boy" from Ohio into his house and that was the end of that. So, our elderly can many times be hornswooggled. Because we love them we give them much leeway in matters of everyday things.
I'm sure there are other segments of the great unwashed who love BO and if you know of any let me know.
Dang! I forgot members of the teachers unions. There's a group that needs to be exposed. I didn't bring up ACORN but they are a complete story in themselves.
I'm having a ton of fun watching Pelosi, Biden and Obama. This IS a sitcom, isn't it!

Comparisons: Bush vs. Obama

I need to give credit for this to someone but I forgot her name. I know it was hyphenated and she wrote for a newspaper somewhere in Wisconsin. Since I don't hve any readers it doesn't actually make a whole lot of difference if I personally credit the lady. But, she did make some good points:

What if George Bush Had:
1) ...made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
2) ...had given Prime Minister Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVD's when Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
3) ...had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
4) ...had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
5) ...had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
6) ...had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?
7) ...had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on "Earth Day," would you have concluded that he is a hypocrite?
8) ...and his Administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan, causing widespread panic all for the sake of a photo op, would you have questioned whether they actually realized what happened on 9-11?
9) ...had been the first president to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is? or perhaps would you have wondered if he was really being controlled by smarter people behind the scenes?
10) ...had failed to send aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest, with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you have wanted it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
11) ...had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
12) ...had proposed to double the national debt (which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate) in one short year, would you have approved?
13) ...had then proposed to double the national debt again 10 times within years, would you have approved?
14) ...had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a major stake in GM, would you have approved?
15) ...had spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in New York City, would you have approved?
16) ...had promised to have the most "transparent" administration in history, and instead tried to push legislation through without giving representatives time to review or understand what they are voting on, would you have approved?
17) ...had run as a moderate, then turned into an extreme radical once elected, would you have approved?
18) ...had an administration filled with more "czars" than Russia, who are held to no level of accountability and may actually be unconstitutional, would you have approved?
19) ...had seized every opportunity when abroad to criticize and apologize for his own country, would you have approved?
20) ...defended his Administration's ineffective use of billions of dollars of stimulus funds to create jobs, (which has not happened) and jolt the economy (which has not happened) would you have approved?
21) ...had promised that unemployment rates in the nation would not rise above 8% once the stimulus bill was enacted, yet unemployment rates are at 9.5% and rising, would you think he lied?
22) ...had seized every opportunity to blame the previous president and administration for just about everything wrong in America, would you have approved?
23) ...ran on a promise of signing no budget or spending bills that contained "pork," then signed a massive spending bill containing over 8,500 earmarks, would you have approved?
24) ...began to lay the groundwork for changing America into a socialist nation, would you have approved?
So tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all of this in just six months. That means you'll have three years and six months to come up with an answer...

Al Gore: Your Landlord

So, Americans think Kentuckians don't wear shoes, invented the tooth brush for obvious reasons and have the middle name of Huckleberry. Well, Leland Conway of the Advocate-Messenger out of Danville K-y has his finger on the pulse. Read it and weep, folks. It ain't a done deal yet but Cap and Tax is getting very close.

Just how bad is cap-and-trade for Kentucky and America? If it becomes law, it will provide every American with a new interior decorator - Al Gore. Bet you didn't know that was included in the deal, did you?
It will force all of us to spend thousands of dollars to upgrade our homes with new energy efficient windows, doors and even appliances before we sell or borrow against equity.
Home builders are in trouble, too. Already struggling to sell the houses they are building, they'll have to retrofit all of the homes they currently have on the market to bring their energy efficiency levels up by 30 percent. Since many builders already use the latest, most energy efficient materials, how exactly is this going to be accomplished?
Cap-and-trade requires the rest of the country to live up to California's energy standards. It doesn't take long to figure out where that has gotten them. By the way, say good-bye to that wood burning fireplace - it just doesn't fit into Al Gore's new interior design scheme for your home.
Stephen Spruiell & Kevin Williamson recently wrote in the National Review Online that this bill requires any project it mandates to be completed using Davis-Bacon wages, effectively excluding America's small businesses from competing for contracts. So much for economic stimulus for the little guy.
Clean coal will increase energy bills
Remember when Congressman Ben Chandler, who voted for the bill, said he was proud because he scored a $60 billion dollar pork barrel investment for "clean coal?" This new bill will impose performance standards on new coal-fired power plants to encourage the adoption of carbon-capture technology. That means Kentuckians will see much higher electricity bills because of the efficiency losses associated with carbon capture. Ouch.
Spruiell and Williamson also point out that the bill instructs the EPA to regulate emissions from sources such as cars, trucks, buses, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, boats, planes and trains. In other words, welcome to government regulation of everything in your life.
So far, the only jobs that this bill actually creates are the thousands of new government bureaucrats who will run the dozens of new taxpayer funded agencies whose purpose it is to slow down America's economy, get in the way of everything we do, and require a permit for just about everything under the sun.
I have an idea. Instead of these new "wind farms" and "bio-whatever" power plants they intend to build for us, why doesn't someone just figure out a way to attach a generator to our Founding Father's graves? I bet we'd find them all rolling over in them so fast that we could power several major American cities with the excess energy.
Perhaps the craziest thing of all about cap-and-trade is that even the Environmental Protection Agency admits that this bill won't do much to clean up the environment.
The fact is, in countries where this has been tried, pollution levels have stayed the same or risen because cap-and-trade schemes actually sanction pollution. You pay a medieval-style indulgence, and keep on doing what you were doing.
The problem is, the cost for that indulgence is passed on to the consumer, resulting in higher priced everything, massive job losses and forcing many small businesses that can't afford to retrofit and pay for carbon credits to close their doors.
Cap-and-trade is an incredibly bad idea. Worst of all, the burden for it falls squarely on what used to be the American middle class, and it does absolutely nothing to clean up the environment. America is the Titanic, and cap-and-trade is the iceberg.

That Ol' European Style Health Care

MADRID (AP) -- A glaring medical error claimed the life of a baby born prematurely to a woman who was the first person in Spain to die of swine flu, a hospital official said Monday.
The infant boy was delivered June 29 via Cesarean section as his 28-week-pregnant mother's condition worsened. The 20-year-old Moroccan woman died the next day, and doctors later said the baby did not have swine flu.
The child died Monday after a member of the nursing staff at the neonatal care unit of Gregorio Maranon Hospital in Madrid fed the baby using the wrong technique, the hospital's managing director Antonio Barba told a news conference.
On Sunday night, the child was fed baby formula intravenously, rather than through a tube as should have been the case, Barba said.
An hour after the feeding, hospital staff became aware of the mistake and tried to clean the baby's blood, but could not save the child.

Senate Judiciary Appointee

A good example of how this country is in one heck of a, oh, how do you say it, a pickle? Al Franken has been appointed to the Senate Judiciary Committee as a supporter of Sonia Sotomayor. One thing in Frankens' favor; he's not a liar--oops! I meant lawyer. He is a comedian so one would say, being in the Senate, he's in great company.

Question For Elitists

Elitists across the country but, mostly on the East Coast, are asking the question:
"If there is a God does that mean I am not God"?

George Will Gets It Right

Former governor from Ohio, Ken Blackwell, sources columnist, Ceorge Will on healthcare and who benefits.

Now, the operative question is this: Has Obama's team also misread the numbers on health care reform? The big number, the number which drives all the other numbers is 45.7 million. That's the number of Americans said to be lacking health insurance. If that number is accurate, it's still less than one in six Americans. But is it accurate?
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist George Will has raised serious questions about that 45.7 million figure. He notes that 39% of the uninsured live in the border states of California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Florida. An estimated 21% of the uninsured are not U.S. citizens. That's 9.7 million, a huge chunk of that fabled 45.7 million figure.
A further 9.1 million of the uninsured have household incomes of $75,000 or greater. These folks could afford insurance but choose not to be insured. There are, Will notes, 14 million Americans who are already eligible for currently funded programs -- like SCHIP, veterans' benefits, Medicare, and Medicaid.
The more closely we examine these figures, the more that number of 45.7 million begins to melt away, like an iceberg floating south. As long as there have been governments, they have been mesmerized by numbers -- some of which prove to be seriously inaccurate.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg & Eugenics

I re-printed this anonymous letter from England's UK Guardian. Justice Ginsburg, in a recent interview said that she thought the purpose of Roe v. Wade was to reduce the population(s) of certain groups of people. Nice, huh?

So Ruth Bader Ginsburg let the cat out of the bag. You have to realize that, as an older woman, she has memories of things that most of the world has forgotten today. What she said is absolutely true. Roe’s success was due to the efforts of a group called Planned Parenthood, which came directly out of an organization called the American Birth Control League. It was founded by a woman called Margaret Sanger, whose stated goal in promoting birth control was to sterilize groups of people she thought were unfit, like blacks, asians and poor southern whites. In this way, America’s human breeding stock would be purified of inferior elements. This part of MS’s thinking has been buried, obviously because it’s VERY politically incorrect. However, PP STILL honors people with their Margaret Sanger award (for reducing their own populations, perhaps?) and still proudly claims her as their foundress. The liberal media, which supports birth control, has so successfully buried the origins of the birth control movement that, over the years, it’s been erased from people’s minds. Planned Parenthood should have been asked, a long time ago, to what extent eugenics drives their movement. Ruth Ginsburg accidently came out with a truth that was once widely known. She must be losing it a little, mentally, to slip up like that.

A Burning Question

Who Wrote Audacity of Hope? It's Sunday morning and I'm too lazy to give you the info but if you go to The American Thinker and pose the question you might be able to come up with the answer. Does the name, Bill Ayers, come to mind?

You Gotta Be Kiddin Me

By Michelle Malkin • July 10, 2009 02:40 PM Looks like Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn’t the only one who’s been channeling abortion champion/eugenicist Margaret Sanger.
Internet sleuth Zombie has a new report on John Holdren, President Obama’s science czar:
Forced abortions. Mass sterilization. A “Planetary Regime” with the power of life and death over American citizens.
The tyrannical fantasies of a madman? Or merely the opinions of the person now in control of science policy in the United States? Or both?
These ideas (among many other equally horrifying recommendations) were put forth by John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology — informally known as the United States’ Science Czar. In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:
• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.
Impossible, you say? That must be an exaggeration or a hoax. No one in their right mind would say such things.
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it is no hoax, no exaggeration. John Holdren really did say those things, and this report contains the proof. Remember, kids: Being a progressive means never having to say you’re sorry for advocating the racist, mass abortion of the “undesirables.”

Benedict And Obama Exchange Gifts

News reports just in from the Vatican are causing a great stir in the Christian world today. Pope Benedict XVI, in a move causing international excitment, presented President Obama with the actual chalice used by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. Obama, with top aides standing by, gave the Pope a box of Trojans and 78 rpm disc of Jim Morrisson's greatest hits. Pope Benedict, according to Obama, told him how much he admired the deceased rock star and his music, especially the finger snappin', 'LA Woman'.

Another Apology

Numnuts did it again today in front of a full house and members of G8. It's our fault, this global warming problem. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Too bad one of his relatives, of whom there are thousands, don't apologize for his father not using a condom.

Tax The Rich

Anyone making over $250 large will shoulder the burden for a myriad number of government programs. Well, I say, "stick it to 'em." I would say that if I was jealous, resentful, vindictive, whatever. My former boss used to tell me, "just because I make more money than others does that mean I can eat more steaks at a sitting"?
Taxing the rich means that luxury manufacturers of goods die. One of my friends recently bought an airplane. I'm happy for him. It was his dream. Now, when taxes are raised he'll probably have to sell the plane. He wouldn't have been able to buy the plane in the first place had this 250 crap been in effect. Another example, jewelers will go out of business. How many 5 karat stones will be on some fancy ladies finger? Not as many as before. I hope these gals are unaware of zirconium because that's what they're going to receive. I've traveled a lot. I've been to many places of the rich and famous; Nice, France, Monte Carlo, the islands of the Caribbean. It doesn't matter if I'm cruising on the Missippi River or lying on the dock at my lake. I am amazed at the number of boats, from ocean liners to luxury boats, the type Tiger Woods commands, I see. I can look out on the water at my Ten Mile Lake and see $50,000 craft on the water. Everywhere I go near water there are very expensive water craft. When taxes on the rich take place how many folks will have to give up what they've earned to take care of societies non-producers? The people who provide and make these luxury items are going to find themselves on the government dole; out of work and whining about their lot in life. Do you think this is what the Obamaites want?
Businesses will dry up faster than pesticide on dandelions. And that's the truth.

More On Czars

Thirty czars appointed and they are accountable to only Obama---no Senate approval, investigation, and voting.
These yokels, and I use the word yokel with scorn, control and run our lives. What in hell is going on?

"Let Them Eat Cake"

This isn't about Marie Antoinette. It is about someone who thinks she's the wife of Napoleon, though. It's a good and interesting read from Dr. Paul Williams at CanadaFreePress.

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.
How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michele are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

$172,2000 - Sher, Susan (CHIEF OF STAFF)
$140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (DEPUTY ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
$113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND WHITE HOUSE SOCIAL SECRETARY)
$102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
Winter, Melissa E. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
$90,000 - Medina, David S. (DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
$84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (DIRECTOR AND PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)
$75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND ADVANCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)
$70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PROJECTS FOR THE FIRST LADY)
$65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)
Reinstein, Joseph B. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY SOCIAL SECRETARY)
$62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SCHEDULING AND EVENTS COORDINATOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)
$60,000 - Fitts, Alan O. (DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ADVANCE AND TRIP DIRECTOR FOR THE FIRST LADY)
Lewis, Dana M. (SPECIAL ASSISTANT AND PERSONAL AIDE TO THE FIRST LADY)
$52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY TO THE FIRST LADY)

$45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)
Tubman, Samantha (DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR,SOCIAL OFFICE)
$40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF TO THE FIRST LADY)
$36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (STAFF ASSISTANT TO THE SOCIAL SECRETARY)

Another Health Care Story

I just heard Bernie Sanders(communist-Vermont) say that it is imperative we(government) pass quality, comprehensive health care for everyone. The operative word being 'quality'. Just prior to his interview I read of a woman from Kingston, Ontario who had a malignant brain tumor removed. Problem is she had to have the medical procedure done at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona at a cost of $100,000.00. With the help of a second mortgage on her home and some very kindly friends she came up with the cash. The hospitals of Ontario had her on a 245 day wait. Here's the moral of the story and it comes from the Jack Benny Show of the early 1950's. A robber approaches Mr. Benny and says, "Your money or your life". After a long pause the robber exasperatingly asks again. Mr. Benny responds, "I'm thinking, I'm thinking". So what is it, folks? When it comes to quality health care is it your money or your life?

I'm A Nitpicker

Michelle O., Malia and Sasha, the O kiddies, went to Europe on our dime a month ago. The White House won't release the cost. Well, I'd go to Europe, too, if the situation arose. But, the threesome is now in Moscow cavorting around and looking at the sites. I ask you, off the top of your head, name three things you want to see in that frozen tundra of a hell hole. Can you hear Mrs. O saying, "at least it's not Siberia". Forget Michelle but do you really think the kids could care less. I hope they took their ipods and video games or it's going to be a real snoozer for them.

The Stimulus Is Working(I Think)

Who says the stimulus isn't working or going to work. Most days I go to the golf driving range to work on my game which is silly since when I get on the course I forget every little nuance I practiced. Other times I go out of boredom. It's an easy way to kill 2 hours. On my last visit I asked the manager about employment and he said come August I could have a parttime job behind the counter. I'll be pulling down $7.00 an hour with free range balls. Cha-ching!
Now, let's review what Gateway Pundit has to write about the stimulus and you'll understand that I am one positive person.

Unemployment:
The US lost over 2.5 million jobs in the first four months of this year under the Obama Administration. The US unemployment rate rose from 7.6% to 9.5% under Obama... the highest rate in 26 years.
Bureau of Labor Statistics- via Sweetness and Light
The US has lost 16,000 jobs each day since Democrats passed their non-Stimulus bill, the largest redistribution of wealth from the private sector to government officials in US history.
National Deficit:
Obama will more than quadruple the US budget deficit his first year in office. Gross Domestic Product Growth:By any measurement, GDP growth is far below what it was last year. Gross Domestic Product fell at a 5.5 per cent annual rate in 2009's first financial quarter

No Second Stimulus, Please

Editorial for Sunday, July 5, 2009 from The Washington Examiner:

Be sure to thank the President and Congress. This week, with news of some 467,000 jobs lost in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the U.S. has now lost about two million jobs since the economic stimulus package passed. Even more notable is that the average workweek has been slashed to 33 hours - the lowest number on record. When the President signed his $787 billion stimulus package into law, he confidently asserted that unemployment would not exceed eight percent. If Congress hadn't passed it, he warned, it would rise to nine percent by 2010. Well, unemployment reached 9.5 percent last month, meaning, by the President's own logic, that his stimulus package has failed.
If you listen to Obama, however, whatever jobs weren't lost were either "saved or created" by the stimulus. In other words, credit for whatever hasn't gone wrong goes to the Obama administration and its Democratic allies who control Congress. Which is why we have already started to hear hints of a second stimulus package on the way. On CNBC Thursday, White House economic advisor Christina Romer answered the question of whether there would be a second stimulus with: "We'll do whatever it takes."
Discussion of the second stimulus is proof positive that the politicians in charge in the nation's capital aren't serious about getting the economy growing again. Only $56.3 billion of the $787 billion stimulus has been paid out, yet the push is coming to persuade us to spend more money on top of money that hasn't even been spent yet. By now it's clear that what little of the taxpayer-funded stimulus has been spent has created pork, not jobs. That's why news reports keep coming about things like stimulus projects placing rails around non-existent lakes and redecorating old theaters.
Creating more government waste is not a credible response to an economic crisis, but it is what should be expected from politicians who view government as the means of taking care of themselves and their friends. According to The Wall Street Journal, overseas travel expenses among lawmakers have doubled to nearly $13 million in the two years since Democrats took control - the period during which the earliest signs of the fumbling economy were extant. The only difference between this and the stimulus is that these politicians didn't think to claim they were trying to save the economy by winging to distant points around the globe. !

He Died--Enough Of This

What is it, day 2000 of the Michael Jackson Death Tour? If I have to see family spokesman, Jesse Jackson, do his thing again I'm going in for a lobotomy. Did you catch Al Sharpton doing the bump and grind at the Apollo Theater? Big Al told us that MJ was the founder of "our kind of music". Bet that pissed off Diana Ross and the Supremes not to mention Barry Gordy. Fats Domino, I'm betting, just chuckled. Not because it was funny but because Sharpton's a chucklehead.
Final answer. He died. Someone plot him and soon.

Sarah

The pundits are in full force this morning thinking they know what's going on. It's called speculation which is a very dangerous thing. One of the major criticisms being leveled against SP is that she gave up on the office of governor; she quit. My, how dreadful! I won't go on because only her hubby, Todd, knows what is happening except to write: wasn't there a senator from Illinois who, in essence, quit his position before his first term expired to run for President? He quit. He gave up. He disappointed those who put him in office. As one of my old mentors used to say: "wake up and smell the coffee".

Cap And Tax Success

If Obama's Cap and Tax plan goes through the enviro's are going to be very happy. By the year 2020 carbon emissions will be reduced by 0.004%. Yes, we will finally be able to breath clean air again, much as we did in the 1950's. China and India along with eastern European countries, doubtless, could care less since they our in the process of annihilating our industrial complex.
Forget that inflation and the high cost of EVERYTHING will skyrocket and, at the very least, Liberals and tax sucking Democrat legislators will have another thing to feel good about.

Obama's Failed Policies

By: Irwin M. Stelzer, Washington DC Examiner

Death by a thousand cuts. Or in the case of the efficiency of the U.S. economy, by at least four: Energy policy, health care policy, trade union resurgence, and fiscal madness.
Start with energy. Barack Obama says our entire energy sector needs a makeover. Never mind that we are fortunate to live in a country in which inexpensive energy has produced the world’s most productive agriculture, a population capable of navigating America’s huge spaces in air-conditioned comfort, and permitted the substitution of energy-plus-brain-power for back-breaking labor. Obama is going to fix it with wind that sometimes blows, solar power where the sun sometimes shines, and perhaps even nuclear power. Cost is no object.
Unless environmentalists stop him: some oppose using desert acreage for solar panels, see wind turbines as eye sores, and complain that we have no plan to dispose of long-lived nuclear waste. And as for coal, as we New Yorkers say, fugedaboutit.
All of this means that the electrical energy needed to power battery-driven vehicles won’t come cheap, if indeed it is available.
Energy is not the only sector that is likely to be less efficient than in the past. It is no coincidence that America’s superior productivity performance has coincided with the decline of trade unions, with the important exception of the auto industry.
And we have seen how union compensation scales and work rules have contributed to the bankruptcy of General Motors and Chrysler -- a fate the non-union car manufacturers have avoided. Yet congress and the President are preparing to spur union growth by eliminating the secret ballot in union-recognition elections and, rumor has it, by exempting union members from the tax on employer-sponsored health care benefits that now seem to be the only way to pay for the President’s health care plan. Yes, this is the very same tax that candidate Obama belabored John McCain for proposing, and swore he would never impose.
There is worse. The President is about to engineer the takeover of the health care sector -- unless private sector insurers can figure out how to compete with a new government entity that needs no profit and can set insurance premiums secure in the knowledge that taxpayer funds are available in a pinch.
Estimated cost over 10 years: $1.3-$1.6 trillion, adding to the upward pressure on taxes, especially on wealth-creating entrepreneurs, created by the administration’s runaway deficits.
It is not clear that the President will get all that he wants. But it is clear that whatever emerges from Congress will add to the cost of doing business, or to the tax burden of consumers, or both, further reducing American competitiveness.
Then there is the deficit, or more precisely the deficits -- red ink as far ahead as the eye can see. Inflation might be tame right now, but sooner or later the flood of dollars will push prices up.
True, the Fed might call back some of those dollars, but Ben Bernanke, the chairman, would have three problems. He would have to know when to do that without aborting a recovery; he has written about the policy error in the 1930s when the Fed tightened too much, too soon, and therefore might be reluctant to move on time; and he might be reluctant to tighten just before the November elections lest it affect his chances for reappointment.
Meanwhile, the administration simply has no credible plan to reduce the deficit to preserve the value of the dollar and to prevent interest rates from rising as wary investors price the risk of inflation into the price they are prepared to pay for government IOUs.
Obama long ago abandoned the pretext that his spending plans are merely temporary, aimed at stimulating the economy. They are, instead, commitments to continue spilling red ink on the government books long after the recovery takes hold.
Two thoughts pierce the gloom. The first is that the American economy might be large enough, and resilient enough, to remain competitive even bearing the weight of the new inefficiencies.
The second is that voters will demand a change of course before Obamanomics is permanently embedded in our system. Voters’ top worry is that they are leaving their children a mountain of debt, and they are right to worry.
Already Obama’s approval rating among independent voters has fallen from 60% to 45%, and almost half of all voters think the administration has moved too far left. Even if the President doesn’t get the message, Congress might.
