Worst. Family. Ever.

I thought I'd end 2023 the way it began; illustrating the Biden family for all their not worth. Glenn Beaton is one heck of a conservative writer who actually lives in the liberal bastion of Aspen, Colorado. Beaton left us with his take on THE family by exposing them as a group. It's actually quite entertaining when you think about it. As for 2024, let's hope it doesn't suck as bad as 2023.

Happy New Year everybody. And now for Beaton's brilliant work: https://theaspenbeat.com/2023/12/31/why-are-joe-bidens-dogs-so-bad/

When Will It Stop

I'm so old I remember when major league baseball players had to take a second job after their season was over to pay their household expenses. The great Braves pitcher, Warren Spahn, made $8,000 in the 1950's. An umpire in the American League, Don Denkinger, was a bartender at a sports bar in Cedar Falls, Iowa. If you're into baseball he was the umpire who called George Brett out in the 'pine tar incident'.

Baseball salaries today are slightly higher---------

Vivek Knows

 Vivek Ramaswamy

If you’d have told me nearly 3 years ago when I was just a CEO that Jan. 6 was an inside job, I would’ve said that’s crazy talk. It’s not. There is now clear evidence that there was at the very least entrapment of peaceful protestors, similar to the fake Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot & countless other cases. The FBI won’t admit how many undercover officers were in the field on Jan 6, Capitol police on one hand fired rubber bullets & explosives into a peaceful crowd who they then willingly later allowed to enter the Capitol. That doesn’t add up & the actual evidence turns the prior narrative upside down: if the deep state is willing to manufacture an “insurrection” to take down its political opponents, they can do anything. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

This 'N That From Dublin Ohio

A question to begin with: what do you do when it's 3:30 am and you're in bed staring at the ceiling? What I did was get out of bed, stagger to the kitchen, put coffee grounds and water in the pot then turn on the Hallmark Channel. I have friends who think I'm nutso for watching the channel but it's soothing, I don't have to think and you can watch the last ten minutes knowing the guy will kiss the girl and everyone lives happily ever after.

I hate to keep kicking the proverbial dead dog regarding today's high prices but I can't let this pass. Yesterday, Her Majesty and I 'celebrated' our anniversary by going out to breakfast. Don't laugh. It's what old people do who have pretty much done it all. We went to a restaurant not close to the prices expected at the Waldorf-Astoria. I ordered 3 pancakes which were about 4" in diameter along with two sausage patties and a cup of coffee. My Lady had scrambled eggs with some type of Italian glop ladled on top along with fried potatoes and coffee. The bill came to $53.00. I was incredulous by the cost. I looked around the restaurant and saw families with small children and wondered how they could afford it.

Yesterday, while walking CeeCee at 7 am, I noticed an aspect of nature I do not recall seeing in my almost 78 years. We've had a combination of wet and warmer than usual weather for December in Dublin town which means the ground temperatures are spring-like. As we walked along I couldn't help but notice the thousands of earthworms on the street and sidewalk. Somebody contact Al Gore and get his opinion.

Today and tomorrow will be one of packing clothes for our trip to St. Augustine, Florida. We'll be out of town for two months. My major concern is, since I've recently replaced my Subaru Outback with a Crosstek, is if I have to room for what we need. CeeCee's necessities seem to be the major concern for space. The way I see it it's either her junk or that of The Queen's.Decisions, decisions, decisions.

On the trip down we will be stopping in Raleigh North Carolina to see a man I have not spoken to since 1964. He is a high school classmate. Over the past four or five years we've communicated via the internet or phone frequently but I'm excited about the face to face. The very best part of the trip is I know I won't have to drive through downtown Chicago.

My New Year's wish, one of them, is I do hope the Ohio State Buckeyes defeat Missouri in the Cotton Bowl. You folks outside Ohio have no idea what it's like being around these people when they lose. I also want Iowa and Iowa State to be victorious in their bowls, however, if they lose I can always fall back on what Chicago Cub fans always said, 'Wait 'til next year'.

The bill, signed in 2021 by Democrat wannabee Prez. Gavin Newsom, will force stores that sell childcare items or toys to pay a $500 fine should the store fail to create a gender-neutral toy section for kids 12 years old and under. Oh, it also includes toothbrushes. Go figure...

I've recently come across a very unique and new web site titled, muckraker.com. It's content reminds me of when we had actual journalists who worked for the people. One article of significance I read last night dealt with migrants coming to this country and how they get here. I know people who have a difficult time finding a residence in a town of 2,000. On our southern border we have folks traversing thousands of miles. Well, when you open this link and start reading you might be surprised aka shocked at the organizations providing assistance. What Started It All

I wanted to publish a reminder for the original grounds for impeachment of Donald J. Trump. Most of you will recall the event. In retrospect it now seems sort of ridiculous. As you might expect the scenario involves Joe Biden along with his son, Hunter and Trump calling for an investigation. A Post Christmas Survey

I read an article this morning regarding a Christmas survey. It asked, what was your favorite gift ever received as a child, teenager and adult. Conversely, what were the worst. I do remember the worst one but I don't want to mention it because the giver might be reading this post. My all-time best gift was given to me by Santa when I was nine. It was a cardboard basketball court and was about 20" x 26". The gym floor had holes cut out with a metal lever in each. When a ping pong ball landed in a hole I pulled the lever and tried to make a basket. Simple stuff, huh? But the year was 1955 and everything was simpler then.

We had a 'first' in our home this year.  A few days ago Her Majesty informed me she wasn't buying me a present. It's good that we think along the same lines because she received the same gift from me. As a matter of fact yesterday was the first time in my life I unwrapped nothing and I didn't feel neglected or left out.

Oh, I did receive a large jar of candy from a friend a few weeks ago. Actually, the candy was intended for The Queen but I didn't tell her. I ate half of it watching television yesterday. That's the neat thing about being old. When I was a kid I'd have to ask, "Can I have a piece of candy?" I can't imagine going up to Her Majesty and posing the same question. Old age has its privileges.

Cancel 'Jingle Bells'

James Lord Pierpont wrote the song 'Jingle Bells'. The bad news is he fought for the Confederacy in the War Between the States. Another tradition down the drain. https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/meet-american-wrote-jingle-bells-james-lord-pierpont-dashing-dreamer-scandalous-rebel

'Peace On Earth. Good Will To Men'

One of the reasons, and there are many, for enjoying Christmas is because of it's 'normality'. By that I mean people do the same thing the same way every year. Some would call them traditions and this is a good thing unless, of course, one of your so-called traditions is unloading your shotgun into the night sky or protesting naked on Main Street.

One of the best parts of the day for me is to take a break from the news. Have you ever noticed the media has a habit of promoting 'Peace on earth, good will to men' stories on Christmas Day? But tomorrow, rest assured, we can go back to shooting, robbery and rape stories.

I did want to say 'thank you' to all who tune in to this amateurish blog. Yesterday, December 24, 2023 saw a record set for page views. The number came in at 13,357. In a way I feel badly for these folks and want to say, "Get a life," but I won't because this would be cruel and unkind.

I'm offering my very best on this day to all. Please take a moment to thank the Lord for the blessings you've received this past year.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Four years ago around this time I drove down to the Hallmark store in our local shopping center. I needed to purchase an anniversary card for one of my children who was celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary. In addition, I wanted to pick up another card for Her Majesty since it was coming up on our 50th. The sad aspect of my card search was that there were no cards available for those celebrating number 25 and only two for the golden year couples. The Queen and I aren't much into big celebrations so we stayed in town and, luckily, our very favorite musical group, We Banjo 3, had a concert on the Ohio State campus so our night was planned without having to spend exorbitant amounts of cash on a cruise or a flight to Hawaii or some place long time married couples are supposed to visit.

So, very quickly, four years have gone bye and I was hard pressed to come up with a plan to build a future memory until I read an article about the very best restaurant in Ohio for pancakes. The bistro is called Katalina's and is located on High Street in Columbus. Come Wednesday morning we will be sitting down to stacks of cakes while dwelling on the past. I'll be as romantic as possible when I ask the love of my life to, "Pass the syrup, please."

History With Staying Power

How many of us have never read the poem that begins with 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house'----------------? It's a staple of the Christmas season. Remember The Harmless Weather Balloons?

It was last October when a private citizen spotted balloons flying over our country and especially over areas housing our military complexes? Joe came out in front of the TV cameras and told the nation they were only weather balloons and, of course, millions of sheep followed along with his bluff. The truth now comes out as it always does after the fact. These 'weather balloons' were spying on us but we all knew that, anyway. The administration gave us the 'Nothing to see here. Move along' spiel. Embarrassing, huh? https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2023/12/23/wait-the-biden-administration-tried-to-hide-the-chinese-spy-balloon-incident-n2632789

Oh, in case you missed it when the premier of China met with Joe and the other climate fools in Frisco recently Joe was told sooner or later China was going to take Taiwan.

What Would Nolan Ryan Say

How does $325 million sound? To me it reads like a lot of money. Many years ago, beginning in 1953, the Detroit Tigers had an 18 year old on their roster named Al Kaline. He developed into a perennial all-star and is still legendary in Tiger history. Toward the end of his career the Tigers wanted to show their gratitude for what he did for not only the team but baseball in general. The management offered him a $100,000 yearly contract. Kaline turned it down saying, "No player is worth that much money."

Best Wishes To All

It's been since May 30 that CeeCee became a permanent resident in our home. I have to admit I adopted the lass to fill a void in my heart over losing our Cairn Terrier, Charlie, the previous February. Most of my faithful readers are aware our new 'child' was five years old and lived a pitiful life in a Kentucky community located on the banks of the Ohio River across from Portsmouth, Ohio. We adopted her via a rescue organization located in Columbus.

Her given name was Cookie and she was the saddest little dog I had ever seen. She kept her head down, and was afraid of anything that breathed or moved. I changed her moniker immediately because, to me,  it denoted a floozy, a trashy chick. I wanted something more feminine; a French sounding name perhaps so CeeCee she became.

The first five months of our little girl's stay was a struggle. She was very fearful of some adult men and if approached would growl and charge at them as if she wanted to rip out their throats. This has changed. She will now cuddle up to anyone especially if they're holding her most special gift---treats.

I don't think CeeCee will ever accustom herself to other dogs. These cause her a great deal of fear. My uneducated suspicion is her previous owner kept her secluded in a tiny apartment and she was never allowed to socialize. But, she's improved in this area. She's so much happier being alive and that was the reason I brought her home. I wanted her to have a place where she was loved and she is that.

Sometimes my pooch will surprise me with what she knows and can do. For instance, a couple weeks ago she was in my bedroom doing nothing then ran downstairs and returned with a squeak toy and dropped it at my feet. It was play time. She doesn't mind at all going into her crate at promptly 10:30 at night and she does it without prompting. Naturally, there are special 'bribery' treats placed inside to entice her but it works. CeeCee absolutely loves Her Majesty. As for me she knows I'm her protector and if danger is on the horizon she'll jump on my lap to safety. At night she'll be in my bed under the covers and snuggle my legs until it's crate time. CeeCee understands and responds to six or seven basic commands and she picked them up quickly. Like most dogs our gal loves going for rides in the car. All I have to do is say, "Go for a ride" and she's at the front door. She's come to learn that her time to perform tricks is 2 pm. If I forget she'll give me the look as in 'let's get this thing started so I can have my afternoon treats'. For her the dinner bell rings at 4 pm. There's no reason to tell her. She waits by her dish at that time to let us know she knows.

Anyway, I was talking to her on her morning walk and she asked me to give seasons greetings to all. She's become an integral part of our family. We feel so blessed.

The Dumbest Person In America

The votes are in and have been tabulated. It's now official. The absolute dumbest person in American is MJ Hawkeye.

In order to understand why you have to have traversed Interstate 94 from the south end of Chicago that goes into the City. Then continue on to the Wisconsin border some twenty-five miles north. I personally, did this two evenings ago on my way to a cute burg called Mukwonago, Wisconsin located in the southeast corner of the Cheese State.

I secured a motel on the outskirts of Kenosha and cursed myself for driving this route. I could have gone on the west side of Chicago on I-294 but I didn't feel like paying the $10 toll feel. I give the words 'moron' and 'cheapskate new meaning. As I laid in my bed I swore I would never under any circumstances drive through the worst run city in America ever again. In the downtown area I-94 became a parking lot. I'm an expert in cursing and I opened up the verbal vault. How the people of Illinois can survive this driving on a daily basis is beyond comprehension.

I was in Mukwonago for a funeral and left for my return home trip to  Ohio at 4 pm CST.  My direction finder tried to tell me it was a 7 hour drive as long as I didn't have to stop for fuel or eat or pee. From this town it's a mere 60 miles to the inner guts of midtown Chicago. It's then that whatever brain I have left went on vacation. I convinced myself the drive back to Ohio might just work retracing my route because most of Chicago will have left their jobs on Thursday and headed out to Mom and Dad's to get an early start on the holiday week-end so I did what I said I would never do. I drove back through Chicago, Illinois on interstate I-94. Oh, and a torrential downpour didn't help, either. Have you ever seen the Sears Tower in The town God forgot? Well, I looked at it for 45 minutes because that's where my car was dead stopped.

I had emailed a couple of friends the night before about my trip and told them things could be worse. In the first place I wondered how many cars are on that particular strip of highway. It has to be in the hundreds of thousands. I imagined I was in Chicago in January and it was zero degrees fahrenheit and the government had achieved their goal of all electric cars. Wow! I can only imagine the tragedy of driving on that road with drivers looking for recharging stations. So, I felt better-----for awhile.

Yeah, I made it back to our home------nine and a half hours later. My pooch, CeeCee, was at our front door to greet me. She didn't help sooth the savage beast. I promised God I would never, ever drive on I-94 again------until the next time I suppose.

The Christmas Story In Review

Every year, The Christmas Story is a holiday feature. I enjoy it a lot!

The Chinese restaurant ending is great!  Everything about this movie is so politically incorrect, from the old man to Mrs. Parker, to just about everything else.  Remember the line about the old man being as good as an “Arab trader” when they are looking for Christmas trees?  What about the lamp?

The late Roger Ebert reviewed this movie in 2000.  I’m not sure why he waited so long but he nailed it.  This is Mr. Ebert’s reviewhttps://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2023/12/the_christmas_story_is_great_because_it_is_politically_incorrect_all_the_way.html

Prayers For Ryan Samsel

January 6 political hostage Ryan Samsel could barely stand when he woke up on Thursday morning.

The same throbbing pain that pierced through his left arm in 2021, where doctors discovered blood clots, is surging through his massively swollen left leg.

Locked in the hole of the DC gulag, he calls the correctional officers for help begging to see a doctor to no avail.

A newly-uncovered trove of documents detailing plans to create a Covid-like virus in China months before the pandemic make the 'lab leak almost certain', experts say.

The records - obtained now by FOIA requests - lay out a plan to 'engineer spike proteins' to infect human cells that would then be 'inserted into SARS-Covid backbones' at the infamous Wuhan virology lab from December 2018.

Just a year later, in late 2019, the Covid-19 virus emerged with a uniquely adept ability to infect humans, going on to cause a global pandemic. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12881707/us-chinese-covid-documents-wuhan-spike-proteins.html
