Obama Communists: Did Ya Ever Imagine
Things occur so rapidly today and our lives are so busy we can't, oh how I hate to write this, "see the forest for the trees". Our government is very quickly being taken over by radical marxists. Do yourselves a favor and do some research on 'Obama czars": John Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Van Jones and Mark Lloyd. One of these people wants to restrict how many children a family can have either by forced abortion or by putting chemicals in the water. Another thinks animals should be able to sue humans and a third wants to control the airwaves as has Hugo Chavez through a revolution in Venezuela. Mr. Jones preaches the benefits of communism. Research the Apollo Alliance. They have taken credit for writing the stimulus plan.Apollo is headed by a cohort of Bill Ayers and, along with him helped found the Weathermen. We are known by the company we keep. You've heard of ACORN. If Attorney General, Eric Holder, would get off his duff and bring charges against them for massive corruption as he should have done with the Baltimore Black Panthers for voter intimidation the American people might stand a chance of slowing down the threat of marxist revolution these commies espouse.

Go Figure
From Flash News and re-printed courtesy of Dan Cirucci's personal blog
If aliens ever try to abduct you, just tell them you know Jesus. According to Guy Malone, of AlienResistance.org, using the Savior’s name during an attempted alien abduction can save you from a probing aboard a UFO, mainly because aliens are actually “fallen angels” who’ve taken the shape of extraterrestrials.
Malone says, “An abduction can be stopped in the name of Jesus Christ much like an exorcism. I am a testament of that.
I’ve been able to stop an abduction three times in my adult life.”
But, oddly enough, abductions aren’t even actually happening.
He says angels “shape-shift” to look like aliens and make people imagine ET encounters.
But since angels work for God and Jesus, dropping his name will keep them from messing with someone.
Malone says most UFO phenomena can be explained by simply reading the Bible.

Is This Heaven? No, It's Iowa
Have you noticed that seemingly every year, about this time, there are huge and destructive wildfires in the hills of California. The MSM sends scads of reporters to the area to let us in on the big story; the Santa Monica fires are causing million dollar homes to go up in flames. What's the big deal? Every year it's the same old story. Every spring there is flooding all across America and some folks continue to build homes in flood plains. Crap happens and so does stupid. The four year anniversary of Katrina is here. That means PBO will have a photo op just after he has his helicopter fly over unreconstructed areas of New Orleans. CBS will interview a sympathetic(or pathetic) black man in bib overalls with no shirt and a gold plated front tooth who will tell us about how difficult it is to carry on. The Prez will jump back on his copter and the saga continues. Next year Barry will be back again.
Let me tell you about some people who struggle and do not complain. How many recall the devastating floods of Iowa last summer? Not many I'd bet. The Cedar River ravaged everything between Waterloo to Iowa City. Cedar Rapids, population 125,000 saw the downtown completely under water. The destruction is evident today. I'm still waiting for Katie Couric or Brian Williams to show up to let the world know what these people have lost. It won't happen though. Iowans are resiliant. They are non-gripers who get by using their wits and hands to get the job done. Iowans don't rely on their neighbors for help. They don't have to since the neighbors will be there before a request for help is asked. This should be the American way but, too often, the chronic complainers want FEMA to dig them out and when they don't do it in a timely fashion it's time to blame someone, any one.
When talking to people in stores, on the street or in an airport and Iowa comes up in conversation I generally ask if they've ever been to Iowa and if they respond with a no it's my suggestion they stop in on the way through, if ever there. It's a wonderful state and the people are even better.

Wall To Wall
The Edward "Teddy" Kennedy funeral is Michael Jackson part II. It's wall to wall coverage. Since I got back from Minnesota three days ago the cable has been out so I've been forced to do other activities, reading for instance. Up til now I've missed the funeral of the decade. I'm watching Fox as I write, waiting for a rerun of Glenn Beck. From all accounts a man who is a combination of John Paul and Mother Theresa has passed on. Won't this spectacle ever get over? Please, somebody, give us the cut sign across the throat. Good Lord, we are in trouble. Cuttysark Kennedy has just, by the media, been compared to Daniel Webster. Anyway, I learned something today and it made me want to wretch. Mary Jo Kopechne did not drown. Well, that I did know. The poor lass ran out of air to breathe. That, too, I knew. It must have been agonizing. What I didn't know was she asphyxiated in only seven feet of water. Seven feet is ten inches taller than Ted in bare feet. Seven crummy, lousy feet and he couldn't make an effort to extricate this girl from her tomb. To lionize this guy is expected from the hard core Left and mainstream media. I'm wondering what the funeral of Sen. Robert Dole, a real hero and statesman will be like?

Stimulus Spending II-It's Only About Sex
From Fox News for August 24, 2009. It's nice to know where your stimulus dollars are being spent. Hookups,’ sexual interactions between partners who do not expect a romantic commitment, are believed to be common among adolescents and young adults.” So reads the abstract for a government-funded sex study by two Syracuse University researchers.
The study breaks new ground, the abstract claims, because it “provides the first prospective investigation of the hypothesized predictors of penetrative sex hookups (i.e., oral, vaginal and anal sex) and the first exploration of the short-term mental health consequences of hookups.”
Not surprisingly, “intoxication” was a leading predictor of hooking up among first-semester Syracuse students. Also not surprising was the finding that prurient, pre-marital sex “increased psychological distress for females, but not for males.”
In fact, the only surprise is that the sex study received $219,000 from the federal stimulus package.
And it is not the only sex-related research to receive taxpayer funding, according to the New York Post.
Researchers at Indiana University received $221,000 in stimulus money to examine “barriers to correct condom use.” The University of Illinois, Chicago was awarded $123,000 for a study evaluating “drug use as a sex enhancer.”
And the University of Maryland, Baltimore scored $28,000 from the taxpayers to study how crystal meth “enhances the motivation for female rat sexual behavior.”
Now I understand that the $219,000 that went to Syracuse University, the $123,000 to the University of Illinois and the $28,000 to the University of Maryland don’t amount to much in a federal stimulus package that added up to $787 billion.
But it’s not the amount of the awards that repulses. It’s that federal tax dollars are being used to underwrite research that almost certainly offends the moral sensibilities of the majority of Americans.

Stimulus Spending I
Difficult to believe but this list came from CNN, Feb. 2009. Sort of torques you off, doesn't it.
On Monday, Congressional Republican leaders put out a list of what they call wasteful provisions in the Senate version of the nearly $900 billion stimulus bill that is being debated:
The Senate is currently debating the nearly $900 billion economic stimulus bill.

Chocolate Mike
My two year old grandson, Tommy, calls me Chocolate Mike. It isn't Grandpa, Gramps or any other strange or acceptable moniker. Lord knows how he came up with the name but it's kinda stuck and it's cute so I'll run with it for awhile. Today was another good one in our family. I have a new grandson. Our daughter became a mommy, again. This makes six grandkiddies in all; three girls and three boys. Time doesn't take a holiday. It seems like yesterday that Oscar arrived followed by Eve, then Genevieve, Tommy, Paige and now her brother, David. One of the kids calls me Grandpa L since both his grandpa's are Mike's. Coincidentally, David's two new grandpa's are also Mike's. That archangel must have been quite a dude back in the 1940's to have so many named after him.
Evie, she tries to get cute and simply call me Mike but then I have to give her the stare and she sheepishly whispers, "Grandpa Mike". Genevieve will call me whatever I want as long as I have M&M's in my pocket which I always do. M&M's--Chocolate Mike--Hmmm--maybe that's it.
This grandpa thing is a challenge but I think I'm close to getting a handle on it.
