My Kind Of Kids

There comes a time when action replaces the written word. Too often I've relied on the word rather than giving of myself. No more.
There's a young man running for the United States Senate from Ohio. This is what I know about him. His name is Josh Mandel.
The rest of the info I had to research. He's young, only 35, but to me most everyone is young. He's served two terms in Iraq. He's pro-life; is the State Treasurer from Ohio and that's about all I can tell you. If I sat next to Josh Mandel at Mass and we were the only ones in church I wouldn't recognize him. I'm throwing all my marbles in one basket because here's what Josh Mandel isn't. He's not a Marxist senator like his opponent, Sherrod Brown, the current senator. Brown has had his face surgically implanted to the anal sphincter of Barack Obama. Get the picture? If conservative values are to be returned to American society and if healthcare has any chance for repeal then we have to get rid of Sherrod 'Sorry Ass' Brown and pin our hopes on Mr. Mandel.
So, Ol' MJ worked his way to the LeVeque Building in downtown Columbus to offer his services for whatever needed to be done. Have you ever committed yourself to something new and wondered what kind of people you'd meet? I did it all the way downtown. It's called stereotyping. My perception would have been a bunch of gray beards and blue hairs. Was I ever wrong. Upon arrival I was enthusiastically and pleasantly surprised. Of the thirty people there one lady might have been six years younger than I. She did call herself a Grandma. The rest of the crew were pushing thirty. The nice aspect of being around conservative youngsters instead of liberals is: They all have toothbrushes and use them each and every day. They bathe in showers and not when they go out in the rain. They don't have the big holes in their earlobes with black plastic whatever the hell you call them. They don't wear t-shirts that read, 'Occupy This' with a picture of the middle digit extended. They know how to talk intelligently. Did I mention they say 'please' and 'thank you'? I love being around kids. At my age everyone is a kid. Mike and Ken Bosley, brothers who played basketball for me in 1971, will always be my kids. Tim Kilfoy from Davenport Assumption in Iowa in 1976 is both one of my kids and a friend. Timmy is my one of my most favorite kids---ever.
So, MJ had a wonderful day; a productive day. I met some wonderful young people who are committed to a cause. You should be so lucky. If you happen to be of my political ilk I strongly suggest you head on out to the campaign headquarters of a favorite candidate and go to work, offer some time, meet the positive idealists of the future. You may be learn something good about today's youth and their aspirations. In other words, these kids are fun to be around. If you happen to be a liberal, don't go. You and their campaign workers are morons.
