As I walked down from the upstairs this morning my lil' buddy was at the bottom. Cheerily, I yelled out, "Happy Birthday, Charlie." He can be somewhat aloof. He cocked his head, looked at me, and went on with his business. My pal has been with us two years come February but today is his 7th birthday. We know because we have his birth papers.
Anyway, for a special treat I took him to the dog park. There were three other pups in attendance and all were having a good time until a pup Goldendoodle showed. Charlie's one of those who has been neutered so one would think I shouldn't worry about intermittant humping. One would think. Not my boy. He picked out the 'Doodle' as his own. Sadly, the dog park romp ended early.
I'd planned a party again this year just as I had last but called it off. It became a family affair instead. Next door to us are Remy and Brodie. We were sort of hoping they could be friends. Not so. They jump around and drive my boy nuts. They didn't get invited. I know Charlie was pleased. Ike is an English Bulldog. He lives across the street. Inviting him was out of the question. He's mean to the point that his teeth show in the hope of ripping open someones neck.
So, it was our guy, a 'Happy Birthday' song with hat and a special cake. For games we played Tug 'O War and chase the ball. It wasn't that big a deal. We do it every day. A wonderful time was had by all.
He's napping at present. It's a dogs life rings true.
