January 29, 1886, Carl Benz applied for a patent for his “vehicle powered by a gas engine.”
In July 1886 the newspapers reported on the first public outing of the three-wheeled Benz Patent Motor Car, model no. 1. 135 isn't that long ago really. It was two years prior to the birth of my grandfather and I remember him well. We've come a long way since this invention. And who was it that said, "You didn't build that?" Tell it to the Wright Bros. and a million other entrpreneurs.
