Do You Know Cardi B?

Sometime around the late 1980's when I was a teacher at Alleman HS in Rock Island, Ill. the school had a pep rally for the football team. I'd sit in the crowd to make certain nothing got out of hand. Once in awhile I had to opportunity to 'drop the hammer' on a rowdy kid but not often.

Anyway, we had a twins in school, the Elliot brothers and they went to center court to sing something called Rap. They started doing their schtick and I'm thinking "What the hell is this?" And then I heard and saw the student body going wild with joy.

My next thought was, "If this is music Fats Domino is rolling over in his grave."

Rap music has come a long way. For example, as a senior in college my buddy told me about a place that had go-go girls so we went. You know the drill. We're sucking on brews and a young female is on stage dancing to music. She was wearing a type of swim suit my wife would wear. Today, if you went to a strip club the girls could get away with having a band-aid over their nipples.

A couple of days ago Joe Biden allowed himself to be interview by someone called Cardi B. On the split screen this woman asked Joe about free college and he replied to her saying anyone can go to college for free. Stupid, huh? In reflecting on this interview I seriously doubt Joe had a clue as to who this person is. Know why? It's because I'm more cognizant of what's going on in the world than Biden and I didn't know about her so I did the most minimal of research.

She was born in NY. At sixteen became a member of the notorious violent gang, The Bloods. She got into drugs and since she she was a Blood had to give freely of her body.

Oh yeah, she stated she was a practicing Catholic(just like Joe) and said God was her life(just like Joe).

The person has won 4 Grammys plus numerous other awards for her rap songs. Kids listen to this music. Considering I have a difficult time understanding some lyrics from contemporary or past artists I'm hoping these children can't pick up on what her blathering tells us.

Her latest and greatest song, a top billboard one, is titled WAP.

I caught the Tucker Carlson Show on Fox last night and she was the subject of conversation. Carlson said that he could not reveal lyrics from this song on television. Guess what? I'd feel uncomfortable putting the lyrics on this page. I did copy the link to the lyrics if you want to scan them. I have to tell you they are vulgar and completely demeaning to women everywhere but since she's black and talks in the black lingo in her 'song' black women are especially targeted.

Our society needs a revamp.
