A Thought About Teenage Suicide

M computer was on the fritz this morning, primarily due to my ignorance. When in doubt go to MicroCenter. It's been on my 'go to' place for twenty years. Because of faux over hyped virus I had to take a number and sit outside for an hour.

Next to me on a bench was a kid(he was 42). I'm sterotyping but he looked a a computer wizard; long hair, beard and mask. Since I'm such a busy many I really didn't want to stick around so I asked if maybe he could help me out with my problem. He either couldn't or didn't want to.

Anyway, he told me he did some kind of health work in grade schools. The conversation led me to ask about a news item I'd seen on Fox. It said 25% of young people between the ages of 14 and 22 and seriously contemplated suicde since March.

Of course, there could be reasons other than the virus for this thinking. It's possible either Cindy Lou or Biff was dumped by a girlfriend and their world have come to an end. A kid might have not made it into a particular college. A fourteen year old could have gone to the Dairy Queen for a cone and they didn't have cookies and cream.

Well, I asked Einstein what he thought of this. And his answer was, don't scoff now, that kids get on their iPods and are bullied. I do understand that bullying can be a problem but really-------------.

Then I asked the guy if maybe, just maybe, not being in school and out of their routine might contribute to this problem. "Not a chance" he. said.

It was then I realized how truly ignorant I was. Not really.
