When Good Intentions Go Kaput

Think back you long time readers.Think back maybe eight years ago when we moved to Murfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. Muirfield was constructed in the woods around 1974 by Jack Nicklaus and three other gentlemen. It's about a 2 square mile area and every street and home comes under the scrutiny of the Golden Bear. He had the final say in what was built and how these dwellings would look. He even decided there would be no commercial business of any kind at Muirfield. His golden hand to this day has the power of Oz.

A couple of years ago some of the many deer in the area were jumping the wrought iron fence surrounding his golf course much to his chagrin. So, in his brilliance, he decided to put extenders on the fence with pikes at the top. The very next day six deer had impaled them selves trying to jump the fence. Down came the extenders.

Fast forward to today. Our governor, Mike DeWine and the mayor of Columbus are taking the COVID shutdown seriously, very seriously. One of their mandates is all bars/restaurants must shut down by 10 pm.
I wrote about this the other day. My confusion on the subject is does the virus know when it is 10 pm and then it can come out and play?

Last night our NHL hockey team, the Columbus Blue Jackets played the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the delayed NHL playoffs. Luckily for the Jackets they won. Unluckily for the bar patrons and the bar owners and workers the game went on past the 10 pm mark. Most bars were packed with Jackets fans. Do you think they got up and left with 10 minutes to play in the 3rd period? Fat chance!

My spies tell me some authorities were notified about these law breakers. Some are under threat of fines and closure for a certain period. What a wonderful way to destroy the livelihoods of hardworking people. Government employees should toil so diligently.

My thinking is this. The bars should turn ownership over to Mr. Nicklaus for as long as the shutdown lasts. He controls everything, even the governors office. Then we can start having fun again.
