Politics this and politics that. Obama, Obama, Obama. I can't take it anymore and I need an outlet. Do you know I went golfing today and not once was 'you know who' was mentioned. Tomorrow I'll begin preparation for my fishing trip to northern Manitoba; near Hudson Bay. It's what's called a fly-in. I did one of these two years ago and it was a disaster. That trip took place at Kags Lake in Ontario. It was my first trip to the land of the walleye. I was told we seven would snag around 4,000 walleye, northern pike and lake trout. The actual total came to 110--for all of us. It's times like this when it's good to be a conversationalist especially when one is sitting in a boat for eight hours with guys you've never met before. I convinced myself that my bucket list had been completed but, not so. My buddy, Big Buff, convinced me that this time we'd haul in so many they'd be jumping in the boat. Well, I'm a sucker for a good lie so I said, "Yes" to his request to make the trip to Charron Lake. He told me that last year they caught 8,000 Pisces. Fat chance of that with me there. It's still early in the planning game but I promised I'd come up with a fancy chart detailing each day's winners and losers.
Big Buff is a master angler on this lake. As a matter of fact, if you look up the name of the lake and the master angler you'll see The Buffer has caught the largest northern from that body of water; somewhere around 45 lbs. I'd be happy with five or six perch.
We don't leave until Sept. 20 but I'm excited to lay out all my gear. I need to make a couple of trips to our local Gander Mountain just to see what they have in the way of fancy jigs and lures. I'm a salesman's best friend. I know I won't get out of there unless I spend some cash on things I don't need and will never use. That's the way I am.
I figured that each fish cost me around $176.39 for the last trip compared to the total cost. This year I'd like to keep it under a hundred.
