I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh nearly as much as I used to for two reasons: It's golf season and that's a priority and, I tend to get riled up and life's too short. Regardless, I caught the last part of his show today and listened to a female caller talking about the food lady and television celebrity, Rachel Ray.
Ms. Ray had Joe Biden on her show a few days ago and got teary eyed talking about ObamaCare. She was so thankful for what Obama had done for her brother with the new law. Her bro has an autoimmune system and his treatments were too expensive for his family to meet the costs. Rush's guest was listening to a talk show after Ray's bawl fest and whomever the host was mentioned that Ms. Ray has a net worth of $60 million dollars. Isn't this always the case? Some of us are filthy rich but feel a lack of obligation for helping others. Quite frankly, I needed further proof about her net worth. You know how rumors begin. But, it didn't take much internet use to find that Rachel was is indeed mega-wealthy. Whatever happened to being my brother's keeper?
When my grandfather died there wasn't an iota of thought given to grandma coming to live with us. The old axiom, charity begins at home, is still applicable. Charity, what a beautiful word. Statistics show that conservatives far and away give a much greater percentage than do liberals. Liberals feel that even those folks in Mississippi, being Republicans, are all super rich. This would also apply to conservatives in Alabama, Louisiana, North and South Carolina and Oklahoma. That's what the great unwashed believe even though it's far from the truth. The state of Mississippi has a charity rate much higher than does Massachusetts or New York. California doesn't count because it's filled with movie stars and illegals so they can't be considered on for charitable giving list because they're supposed to be that way.
Rachel Ray might be worth $60 million today but that honey pot isn't going to end tomorrow. She's richer than your average US citizen many, many times over and will continue to be so. I'm certain there will be 90% of those who've read this post who have already done right by their families and didn't give it a second thought.
My next bit of research will be to check into the many charities I'm sure Rachel Ray doesn't support, It should be an enlightening quest. http://www.therichest.com/celebnetworth/celeb/tv-personality/rachael-ray-net-worth/
