How Old Were You When You Moved Out Of Your Parents House

Kids moving out their home seems to be a popular topic of conversation these days. Do kids actually stay with their parents? Do they really live in the basement? Do they play video games all day long? Wow! What a horrid existence if so.

I left for college in '68 for South Dakota St. Univ. but left after a semester. It's a long story. I went there to play baseball but the winters were more than I could tolerate.

In the spring of '69 I went to Boone Jr. College in my hometown so I was forced to sleep in the basement. I was in the house as little as possible. I'd rather attend all day Mass than stay home.

The fall of '69 saw me attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I never went home again. I didn't want to and I know my parents didn't want me there, either.

My kids left home after their senior years in high school and never looked back. The Queen was sad when the last one left. Not me. Leaving is a part of life. Do mother deer cry their eyes out when junior goes off romping in the woods. I don't think so.

So, how did this come about? I don't have the answers but there has to be something screwed up on both ends.
