According to a transcript of a July 23rd call that Biden had with former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani that has been obtained by Reuters, Biden tried to pressure Ghani to change the “perception” of what was going on – which was that the Taliban was quickly taking over large swaths of the country and had by July taken much of the country. So he had cause to know that things weren’t as rosy as he was saying in July to the American people.
