Money, Money, Money

Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina had a tough opponent staring him down in the election.

His name is Jaimie Harrison and he was exected to win but, alas, he fell by the wayside. Jaimie was the beneficiary of a tremendous amout of cash.

When I was a freshman in college at South Dakota St. Univ. and was sitting in a Political Science class when the professor stated: "A politician would rather have you donate $25 dollars to his party than receive you vote. Granted, 25 skins in 1964 might be akin to a hundo today. I really don' know. I don't know why this stuck with me but it did which brings me to the election in South Carolina.

Harrison received in campaign contributions the grand total of $100 million as in dollars. Does that seem exhorbitant to you? It does me. I have to wonder couldn't we, the people better spend our cash on more beneficial aspects of society?

I've mentioned the money giving in campaigns before but this is mindboggling to me. Then consider all the other money spent on all elections from local to the presidential races. And for those who donate what do they expect in return; jobs, favors, money, gifts from China or Russia?

I've thought we could alleviate some influence if money for a congressional had to come from that district. For the Senate how about money donations not being allowed from outside that state. It'd be rather difficult to police but at least it'd be a start.

Just sayin'.
