It was sad hear that Joe Morgan passed away yesterday. When I was coaching high school baseball we always referred to a guy like him as a 'Bulldog'. He played with great tenacity and was most responsible for creating the 'Big Red Machine' in Cincinnati.
A few years ago I went to a golf fundraiser in Springfield, Ohio at a course owned by my sons best friend. Nancy Lopez and Morgan were the featured guests but Morgan was ill and couldn't make it. My suspicion is he's been fighting illness for quite some time.
R.I.P. Joe Morgan. You were a dandy.
