How many of us have never read the poem that begins with 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house'----------------? It's a staple of the Christmas season. Anyway I was surprised to learn this slice of Americana was published anonymously in Troy, New York two hundred years ago yesterday and the person who did write it kept his name a secret for fourteen years.
