For History Buffs Only

It's too bad but I seriously doubt there are many under the age of 60 who give the D-Day Operation Overlord much thought. It was 77 years ago June 6 this took place and its success secured the outcome of victory for the Allies. It was a costly victory with thousands of boys being slaughtered.

The one man responsible for the planning was Supreme Allied Commander, Dwight Eisenhower. Secrecy in planning was of the highest order. It wasn't know until 1984 that 778 soldiers died in April of '44 during a planning mission.

In the event of failure 'Ike' had a letter pre-written taking the entire blame for the mission.

In 1964 famed newsman Walter Cronkite interviewed General Eisenhower on the planning of the entire operation. The video is 1:22:00 in length but you'll learn the most intimate thoughts of Eisenhower and what went into the planning---------if you happen to be a history buff and wish to know more about patriotism and human sacrifice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNaxTXfjfXk
