The America The Media Won't Let You See

Do you trust the media to tell the truth or do they only have an agenda? This was really a stupid statement, wasn't it?

If you are a regular reader you might be able to pick out blog pieces which would depict me as a racist. It isn't true and I can prove it. Ten years ago I was on a golf driving range and the fella next to me was Black. At the time he was 55 years of age, a Black man 6'5" in height with a smile on his face. We began talking and lo and behold we had a lot in common. Even that day we laughed a lot and as of today he is in the top three as a best friend. His name is Jeffrey. He played basketball for Dick Vitale in the 70's. He was an executive with Budweiser. Jeff is a Christian, a father of a son who played baseball at Stanford who could have played professional baseball but, stupidly, opted for for a high level position with Merrill Lynch.

Jeffrey and I talk or see each other every day. It's highly unusual for wives to like their husbands friends. My buddy was looking for an apartment and couldn't get in for five weeks. The Queen suggested he stay with us and he did.

He grew up in an army family. His dad did two tours in Viet Nam. The family lived on bases around the world.

Okay, now that you have some basic background you should know why Jeff is my pal. He's professional, goes to church every Sunday, doesn't swear at all(I should follow his lead). Whenever he leaves his home he always dresses like he's going someplace special. Not that it's a big deal but he drives a Mercedes. As for his personality he's Charles Barkley funny.

Some might say he's one of the lucky ones who escaped the ghetto. Baloney! His parents, both of them, were around for guidance. He's now a grandfather who is constantly in the lives of his family. Jeff is anything but a rolling stone.

I've given a great deal of thought to what I'm about to write. At one time we figured it'd be a wonderful idea to contact the media and local leaders of our Black and present ourselves as speakers to let the inner city kids see how white and black can not only get along but can become the best of friends. When we are out together we don't see color. We see caring and love. We love each other like brothers and aren't afraid to say it.

The media wasn't interested and neither were the leaders of the black community. I think it doesn't fit their agenda. The media doesn't care for good news.
