It's good I graduated as a physical education major. Lord knows there has never been one of us nominated to the Supreme Court.
I graduated twenty years prior to Judge Kavanaugh in 1968. It was the anti-Viet Nam and hippie era. I hated these clowns who were protesting in the streets. I never did like pea jackets and sandals.
I've been thinking back on my academic career at Coe College. There's nothing to brag about. I did receive a couple of B's. Thank God for ankle taping.
I've also been thinking about a couple of my high school buddies who went on to fantastic careers. We get together once a year for a golf outing and I'm in awe of their professional success. Isn't it fascinating how kids in high school can be such screw ups and turn out to be financial and professional leaders.
One of my very best buddies, and he is that to this day, ended up being the CFO of IBM. That's heady stuff.
If this guy would have been nominated to be on the Supreme Court he wouldn't have stood a chance. And why? Because we were immature putz's in the Viet Nam era. We drank a lot of beer.
I once saw this guy down eighteen bottles of Milwaukee's Best in 1969. It was the night before my wedding. My dad was impressed.
This guy did so not want to go to Viet Nam. He, a student at Iowa State University, would get dead drunk every night and jump from the second story of the Delta Upsilon fraternity house hoping he would break his leg and get an exemption. It didn't work. Before he was drafted he enlisted.
He ended up being a helicopter pilot in that worthless conflict and told me he spent his last two weeks of duty, when not flying, would hide in a bunker surrounded by sand bags so he wouldn't die.
If my friend would have been put up as a Supreme Court Justice he would have failed the test unless his name was Sen. Richard Blumenthal who told the world he was a Viet Nam vet who never served.
Democrats are despicable.
