At 12:01 pm today Eastern Time I experienced a reaction not felt in years. My throat tightened and tears welled up in my eyes. It was announced Rush Limbaugh was dead.
It's fair to say I have spent more time with Rush over the last thirty-one years than with anyone one else other than my wife.
My first contact was in March of 1989 in Charleston WV. I was doing my sales job when I came across him on the radio. I was immediately hooked. He was doing a parody on congressman, Barney Frank. Frank was gay and when Rush introduced a story on him he played the song, 'Up, Up And Away In My Beautiful Balloon'. Rush got under Clinton's skin the way a mosquito sucks blood. I loved it.
Rush worked at a radio station in his hometown of Cape Giradeau, Missouri as a teenager. Upon graduation he went full time at this station opting out of college much to the dismay of his father and grandfather. After awhile he took a job with the Kansas City Royals. Upon being there for a few years at a salary of $6,000 he decided to move on and received a radio gig in Sacramento. It, the station, played Rock n' Roll. Rush changed the format to conservative talk and the rest is history.
Sad to say there will be liberals coming out of the woodwork today laughing, chortling and making disgusting jokes about his passing. You can make book on this. Already the Daily Beast has written a devastating article about Rush. It had to be scribed some time ago due to its length. They couldn't even wait for him to be in the ground before attempting to destroy him. Despicable to say the least.
I've come to learn that Rush had one main goal to impart to his Dittoheads: he wanted to expose liberalism for what it is:, communists and socialists in sheeps clothing who are really members of the Democrat Party. Liberals, he said, are not thinkers. They are feelers which denies them the right for constructive argumentation.
If you believe Rush's impact was minimal you'd be incorrect. Everyday, at one time or another, 43 million listeners tuned in.
Rush Limbaugh was my mentor. I didn't move along willy nilly to his trumpeting. He allowed me to compare and think. He showed me the hatred for anything conservative. Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, Trump: The media and Democrat Party have placed them in Hillary's 'Basket of Deplorables' long before she coined the phrase. The purveyors of hatred in this country are the liberals. Rush exposed this on a daily basis.
His legacy will live on. I don't know who will replace him. Replace is the incorrect word because he is irreplaceable. My suspicion at this time is that Mark Steyn will have first honor but substitutes will abound as they have since his illnes was announced last November.
Long live Rush Limbaugh's memories. He made me chuckle. He allowed me to laugh. He made every day a classroom of learning. His clasroom was the best education I ever received.
