There have been literally hundreds of dynasties down through the ages. In today's vernacular a dynasty usually refers to sports teams and not an empire.
At the University of Iowa they've created a wrestling dynasty. After a 10 year hiatus they, last night, became national champions, their 25th.
The star of the team wrestles at 125 lbs. His name is Spencer Lee and he is a bulldog. Last evening he won his third championship. It was a struggle. The final score was 7-0 over his opponent. To me he exemplifies all that Dan Gable did at Iowa State and more.
Lee was interviewed after the meet and informed the television camera's that he suffered a torn ACL eight days ago. Just so you know this wasn't a fluke. Last year Lee won the championship with his first torn ACL. When asked why he kept this a secret he stated, "In the event I lost I didn't want this to be used as an excuse." My high school football coached always said, "Excuses only satisfy the ones who give them." Lee was more succint in his response: "F-excuses. Excuses are for wusses." Golly, I like this kid.
