Remembering The Good Times
I saw this picture and memories of my youth came flooding back.
This photo is taken from an ad from United Dairy Farmers in Ohio. It's a quick stop place; gas, snacks and beer. It's like a 7-11. Anyway, the ad for these malts more or less said, "Get 'em while they're hot-only $3.99.
Three dollars and ninety-nine cents for a malted milk? Sorry, I'll pass. It did make me think back to Boone, Iowa and my time as a youngster. I'll wager any reader from my old home town will remember with great joy Boyd's Dairy. Mr. Boyd built had two malt shop on the south end of downtown and had one on the north end and they were separated by eight blocks. He had the best malts in the world; the way God intended them to be made.
Boyd's was a gathering place in the 50's and 60's for kids and adults alike. I started out with a chocolate malt then worked my way up to chocolate marshmellow. When I became, oh, around 16 I switched to the ultimate. It was a hot fudge marshmellow malt.
I don't need to tell you I'm old when I write these masterful glasses delight cost-------here it comes------25 cents. Oh, the joy of it all.

A New Kind Of Abortion: It's As Easy As Swallowing A Pill
A live segment Sunday on WJBK in Detroit was shaping up to be a standard debate between two advocates from the abortion rights and antiabortion camps.
“Let It Rip” host Charlie Langton opened the discussion, asking abortion rights advocate Jex Blackmore about the Food and Drug Administration’s decision in December to allow abortion pills to be prescribed via telehealth and shipped to patients in the mail.
After explaining how the mail-order system worked and arguing that the drugs are “incredibly safe,” Blackmore held up a white pill. She explained it was the first of two that a person would take to terminate a pregnancy. “I want to show you how easy it is, and safe it is, by taking it myself,” she said.

It's About The Bridge
Joe Biden was in Pittsburgh this past week to speak on his favorite topic, infrastructure. Coincidentally, a few hours prior to his arrival a bridge in town collapsed. Luckily, there were no deaths but Joey took advantage of the collapse in his garbled speech.

"Oh MJ, you're overreacting some might say." Well, until the Constitution is changed it is the law. Except, it isn't anymore. I refer you to a provision in it, specifically Article IV section four.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic.
Did you see the words 'protect the States of the Union from Invasion'? It's as plain as the warts on Joe Biden's butt. He, as the pretender to the throne, is tasked the duty of keeping our borders secure. If he fails in the process he is supposed to be removed from office via impeachment. Do I have your attention? I hope so.

1st Black Female Judge Didn't Quite Make It----Thanks To Biden
In 2003, then-President George W. Bush nominated Janice Rogers Brown, an associate justice on the California Supreme Court to serve as a Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She was the first black woman nominated for the federal bench.
But Rogers Brown had a problem; she was a libertarian-conservative and refused to play ball with civil rights organizations.
But Joe Biden, champion of civil rights and the president who has gloried in naming the first minorities to several positions in his administration, filibustered against her nomination and voted twice against her. When Biden had the chance to vote for a black woman, he declined.
It Breaks My Heart
I first recall seeing Bridget Fonda, Peter's daughter, in a film with Nicholas Cage titled, 'It Could Happen To You'. I thought she was adorable. And last night I saw a picture of her at age 58 and my eyeballs dropped out of my head onto the floor. Life plays silly tricks on us and I asked myself, "Can this be true?" It is.
Winter: It's Almost Over
It was back in 1971 when I first made my long held observation about winter and when spring is on the way. I was standing in the coaches office at the school in which I was about to coach in the Iowa high school boys state tournament when all of a sudden I looked at the window and it hit me. "Hey, it's slightly after 6 pm and the sun is still shining. The date was February 20 and I immediately felt relieved that I had survived another of those dastardly Iowa winters. The euphoria stayed with me for another two and a half hours until we were defeated in the game. But, when February is skeedaddling toward the end my mind set is that winter is over. And you can take that to the bank, my wisdom that is.
I didn't mention that I'm now one year older than 75 and four years younger than 80. Yeesh! What happened that this once youthful man turned into a candidate for being mummified? Old age certainly creeps up on us and I'm reminded of it every-single-day. At precisely 5 pm Charlie beckons me to get on the floor and play tug o' war. I'll move to the edge of the sofa and beginning rocking back and forth to get momentum going so I can easily fall forward and hopefully not have my face hit the floor first. I'll grab the rope and we'll go at it until he becomes bored. At this point panic sets in. I ask myself how I'm going to get up. The first thing I do is roll over on my stomach. Then I'll grab a couch cushion and pull myself up to my knees as I move closer to the couch I'll I'll attempt what's called a 'push up' and if I'm lucky I'll be able to stand. Don't laugh. If you're my age you know what I'm talking about. If you're a youngster and laughing the road ahead is waiting for you and it's full of potholes.
I have set goals for '22. Walking to the corner to pick up the mail without having to user a respirator is first on the list. Actually, I'm going to try golfing again. There's a miniature one not far from us.
Another mindset I've had for years is that even numbered birthdays and even numbered years are good luck so I'm expecting many positives in the next 12 months. The only exception to this rule was 2020. I blame that one on a pseudo-doctor by the name of Fauxci but that's another story.
I have a bucket list for this year. 1) Don't lose a hearing aid, That's it. If I can avoid that misery and expense life will be good.

My Nominee For The US Supreme Court
Ol' Joe promised while he was campaigning for his office he would appoint a Black women to the highest court in the land if appointed president. Yesterday, he reiterated this promise. It's one of those stated to gain votes. Remember, he also promised during his term he was going to cure cancer.
Anyway, instead of just a black women why not nominate one who would please all men while pleasing his constituents.
The word on the street is, and pundits enjoy throwing out names, is it's going to be Kamala for the Court thereby opening up the veep spot to Hillary or Mike Obama. Or, and this is beyond what even Stephen King could think up: Pelosi announced she's running again for the 180th time. Is it possible Joey boy would appoint her vice-prez if Kammy The Girl took was on the Court? It boggles the mind.
I have a better idea. I want a looker; someone who would cause my teeth to chatter. One who would force me to stare at her 'virtues' and not listen to the pap flying out of her pie hole.
