It doesn't bother me all that much that Disney has cancelled Peter Pan, The Aristocats, Dumbo, Lady and the Trump and Dumbo. My grandkids are out of the cartoon age. I have to admit I did shed a tear when Snow White ate the apple and died. Little did I know at that young age there were supposed to be happy endings.
This afternoon in Dublin Ohio the remote in my right hand started surfing. It has the habit of doing that. Its been warned not to many times but doesn't often pay attention.
As I perused the channels I came across the Brigham Young Channel. Once in awhile they'll show a movie that catches my fancy. Since they show faith based ones and those are my style I can be assured they'll meet my approval. I was just in time to watch the classic 'Hoosers' even though I've seen it more time than I've attended Sunday Mass. It was a good 'do nothing' day to see it again. The best about BYU movies is there are no commercials.
Toward the end of the film a contemporary sickening thought entered my mind. In this day of cancellation of our culture I wondered how long it would be before one of the 'Woke Crowd' began protesting this particular film.
In the final scenes the small school of Hickory, Indiana with 56 kids in the high school goes up against the Goliath of South Bend Central. Their school had 2,800 students.
The Hickory team had a total of eight players, all White. South Bend started three Blacks and their two coaches were Black and the White kids won. Does this show White Supremacy? Could it, would it be possible that this film might be banned even though it actually happened?
The sad part for me is these thoughts entered my mind. Is this really the state of our society today or am I overrecting?
