Spring has arrived, almost. My boy Charlie has been able to get out and run. He sniffs then takes in a deep breath of whatever sparks his fancy. Charlie's personality continues to impress me. Some days he wants to be by himself. On other days he wants to snuggle. Could it be it has something to do with my mood? Dogs can sense that, too.
There's only one aspect of a dog's lifes God messed up on. He doesn't let them live long enough.
Sure he's spoiled. I let him have his way. Once in awhile I'll reach down to pet him and he flinches. Since he had two previous owners I wonder if one of them didn't treat him the way a wonderful pet should be. Then I'll cuddle and brush him with his personal grooming device. He loves that.
I snagged one quote that illustrates the relationship between man and dog that explains it all.
"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."
I was watching a movie and one of the characters was a backwoods ogre, as mean as a person could be. Except, his dog followed him everywhere and the cudgel treated him like a king.
Everywhere I go, even if it's to the kitchen Charlie gets up from where he's positioned and follows. I'd like to believe it's because he loves me so much. The truth is he thinks I'm getting food.
