Politicians Vs The People

One would think politician would learn when they come up with sself-centered mandates or suggestions for their citizens.

A few years ago Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel decided he should be the one to call for a boycott of Chick fil-A because their owner was against homosexual marriage. Emanuel, in his infinite wisdom, called on a boycott of all those fast food outlets in all of Chicagoland. You do know what happened. I was there at the time. Cars were backed up for miles to buy their goodies.

Well, it happened again but this time in Colorado. Their gay vegan governor, Jarod Polis called or a MeatOut on Sunday to reduce the intake of transfats. Yep! Grocery stores and food restaurants ran out of delicious meats. When will the ever learn.

This is an iffy transition but my fertile mind began considering the impact of the Volstead Act, that gem of legislation banning alcohol in this country. Why are politicians so ridiculously stupid? All this act did was bring on bigger than ever crime with the advent of crime syndicates. Can you say Al Capone? In New York City alone over 100,000 illegal speakeasies opened. In 1933 FDR saw the light.

Which brings me to the upcoming gun control argument. I'm wondering the ramifications on the restrictions on peoples rights when the govenrment becomes involved. If history is any indicator it won't be pretty.
