Wanted(And Fast) A Doggie Therapist

There's a slight problem in doggieland and yours truly is looking for answers so if you think you can be of help contact this blog. Mind you it's not like my Charlie bit an old lady with a limp but his pattern of behavior is intriguing.

Since we adopted my now 7 year old friend two years ago he's been the epitome of calm. So much so he acted like Mother Therese with small children up until three weeks ago. Since he's a Cairn Terrier the little guy is overly protective. If someone comes in the yard or a chipmunk runs around outside he'll bark until they enter the house (or run down a hole) then he's their best friend.

Lately though he's evolved. If he has a need he'll sit on his haunches directly in front of me and stare. I'll say, is if he understands, "What do you want"? (Who's the dummy now?) Anyway, I learned that he most likely wants to piddle, have a BM, play with his toy ropes, have his 2 pm treats, have dinner or go upstairs and get in my bed; usually around 8 pm.

This pattern has changed. He still sits but in the last week if I don't respond he barks once, waits 10 seconds and so on until I respond. I have to believe he's telling me he wants whatever right now! But, how did the evolution of this begin? Last night he sat in front of The Queen. His dinner hour is 5 pm. He started yipping at 4:45. He yipped for another 10 minutes. The moral of that story is don't mess with The Queen.

As I stated I have to wonder why now after two years? If you have an idea let me know. I do have a buddy in North Carolina who informed he has a Vet friend. Maybe he can ask him.(Ahem)

Oh, and one last thought. Maybe Charlie's spoiled rotten. I've heard some children can get that way when they have the run of the house without boundaries being set.
