It Was Like A Jeep Trip Through Montana

Before I get into the meat of this I want to offer kudos and congratulations to Rick and Janet on becoming grandparents for the 5th time. The anticipation date is in September. Two finer people, Christians, never lived. They have two sons have already presented them with four boys. Boy number 5 is on the way. XY chromosomes run in the family like horses at Aquaduct.

Have you ever heard the phrase, 'It was like a jeep trip through Montana'? I'm not talking about driving on an interstate but when the jeep goes is over boulders, up mountains and down into ravines. This perfectly describes my three day visit in Florida to attend the funeral of my former boss.

Actually, the funeral was very nice. It was the trip home that created havoc. Every day in my life is like a sitcom.

My flight to Columbus wasn't direct; had to fly to Houston so I left the Ft. Myers at 1:30 and arrived home at 11:00 The TSA can sometimes be irritating. I have to wonder if, before they took this job, they drove taxis or shined shoes. Power sometimes does this to people. As I entered the cubicle to see if I had weapons on my body the kid doing the checking told me what I'd just told him.;  "What metal do you have on your body?" "I just told you," I said. Evidently, this went over his head so I had to start all over again. Then, as I placed my arms crosswise above my head he mentioned that the machine wasn't working. That he'd have to recalibrate it. So, my comment was, "We're in Ft. Myers, it's the place people go to die. Are you trying to tell me I'm the first old-timer to come through here with bad hips?" That comment went over his head but I congratulated myself on being a wise guy.

In the meantime I had 5 minutes to get to my gate. Have you ever seen an old man try to run carrying two bags? What the heck. Have you ever seen an old man trying to run period? Hollywood could make a comedy about it.

Well, I finally made it home. Charlie was at the front door to greet me and as someone once said. 'all's well that ends well'.
