Was It A Waste Of Lives And Time?

As most of us all know the troops will be coming home from Afghanistan on August 31 after what appears to be the same result as in Viet Nam. Nothing gained, everything lost.

Personally, I believe it's good and necessary. I am no military strategist; have never put on fatigues or fired any type of military weapon but I can read and twenty years ago I made an observation. In the course of history Alexander the Great invaded Afghanistan. He failed to take control. Twice the British attempted to be the masters. Failed. For ten years the old Soviet Union sent in their powerful armies and they, too, failed.

So, when George Bush sent in our guys I was somewhat fearful of, guess what, failure.

In twenty years we have lost over 4,000 soldiers and contractors. By lost I mean killed. In addition over 20,000 came home minus limbs and other body parts. A great many of these because our guys were hamstrung by our own government as to the proper way to kill the enemy.

It concerns me that Afghanistan is even in the picture of importance. Their two greatest and only exports are lithium and opium.

Wow! Whoda thunk it?
