You'd Have To Understand Portsmouth Ohio


I bet you believe this pic is satire. You'd be wrong. Portsmouth, Ohio in the 1930's was the jewel of the Buckeye State. Not so anymore, It has the distinction of being home base for the opioid problem in America

I've been to Portsmouth a number of times as a road warrior salesman. I lies on the banks of the Ohio River across from Kentucky. As for the city itself think Port-au-Prince. It's that bad. A few weeks ago I saw a crime report about the place. They have a 191 cells in their jail. 189 of those were occupied most for drug offenses. 

Do yourself a favor and read the book, Dreamland. Then you'll understand Portsmouth.
