Each generation in our history beginning with the 1900's influenced both fads and fashions in their youth. For instance, those born 1900-1925 might have looked back and said, "I wish I hadn't been in that goldfish swallowing contest." The Silent Generation were those of the WWII era. There are thousands of examples these heroes could have provided. WWII guys might say, "I sadly recallwhen I got drunk in Paris on VE-Day." My generation, the Baby Boomers, and this is from personal use, "Good Lord, did I really use that much Butch Wax?" Millennials would say, "Bell bottom trousers, really?" And finally today's Gen Alpha group: Well, I think when they look back they might say, "I wish I hadn't cut off my breasts/penis."
This is just a wild guess on my part.
