"Guys, When Golfing In Scotland Learn The Rules
I saw this post and it brought back a wonderful memory of the time I golfed in Scotland. The course was a nothing one except the aspect of it I enjoy most was the scorecard. In Europe these things look like they were designed by Rembrandt. Very cool. What'd I shoot? Got me but I do recall the time I played at a course in southwest Ireland. The course was called Old Head Kinsale. It was right on the Atlantic coast. I'd gone with a group of folks from Ohio who I kind of knew. Yes, Her Majesty was with me.
We had three or four foursomes and I was hooked up with one guy from Westerville and two from out of state. At the time I wasn't embarrassing myself and when one of the guys mentioned a money game I reluctantly agree. As luck would have it I shot an 84 with two double bogeys and won----------except the big mouth, who was from Chicago, stiffed me. Know what? I didn't care because inside I knew he I would never lose that feeling of victory.
I might have mentioned this before but it bears repeating. My next door neighbor at the time hit one of the top two golf shots I'd ever witness. We were playing another Irish course designed by Greg Norman. On a par three the guy hit an iron shot into a sand bunker to the right of the green. Europeans can be masochists when it come to bunkers. This trap was at least 15' below the green. The guy swung and the Pope must have put holy water on it because it went in the hole for a birdie. I hope he kept the ball.
You're probably asking what the other all-time shot was in my arsenal of the greatest. In 1982 I was managing a golf course in Davenport, Iowa. A group of Palmer College of Chiropractic students came out to play nine holes. Here's the background and it's simple: They were from Sweden and had never in their Nordic lives ever swung a club so I walked out to the first hole with them. Hole #1 was a 185 yard par 3. The first guy on the tee, I'll call him Swen, took a swing. He made contact and as the ball entered the stratosphere I thought, "You've gotta be kidding me." Then, as I watched the ball hit the green and roll, and roll and roll into the cup I said out loud. "You've gotta be shit*ing me. And that's the truth. It took me thirty years to garner an ace and this guy from the land of ABBA does it on his first swing.
Golf, if you've never done it is the most frustrating game invented. I mean, you're standing over a ball and its not moving. What could be easier. Well, winning WWIII would. Unfortunately, golf is a lot like heroin. Once you start it's hell getting off of it. But I love it.

A week ago I rented a compact car from an airport rental in Minneapolis. It cost me $90 a day for two days not including fuel.

It's entirely too early to comment on Waukesha. I've been to that community many times. We have friends who live in there. There are snippets of information about the, and I hate this word, alleged perpetrator. I've looked at his long felony list. It puts Dillinger to shame. Joey boy has been touting the paying of this bill saying it'll all fall on the shoulders of the rich and that it's time for these deep pocket boys to "Pay their fare share." A Couple Things I Didn't Know About Kyle Rittenhouse
Maybe the media should start doing its job instead of making things up. A Brazilian news paper along with one from England wrote that Kyle shot two and wounded one Black. They wrote this after the verdict was rendered.

I didn't know that Kyles Dad, Grandma and Friends all lived in Kenosha, 20 minutes from where he resided with his Mom part time in Illinois.
I didn't know that someone knocked Rittenhouse down twice and then attempted to kick him with lethal force to the head.
I didn't know that Huber had hit him in the head 2x with a skateboard.
I didn't know Gaige Grosskreutz, aimed his gun at Kyle first, as he admitted on the stand.
I also didn't know that in the State of Wisconsin, it is legal for Kyle to have a gun, even at 17 (which was why the gun charge was dismissed).
I didn't know that Kyle did not cross state lines with a gun he wasn't supposed to have. The rightful gun owner did, as he was legally permitted to do.
I also didn't realize that Rosenbaum was a 5 time convicted child rapist and that Huber was a 2 time convicted woman beater. I didn't know that Grosskreutz was a convicted Burglar with an assault on his record also.

Feel Good Story Of The Year
I'm a creature of habit. Aren't we all? Anyway, on Saturday mornings during football season I watch ESPN's Game Day. On this November morning the channel ran a story on a young man born with Down Syndrome. He hails from a little town an hours drive southeast of Columbus, Ohio. The profile showed this lad, Kaden Cox, along with his parents pooh-pooh what specialists said when he was born: that'd he'd be lucky to get a job. Kaden has exceeded beyond anyone's expectations. He graduated high school where he went out for track(the shotput) and wrestled. He learned how to kick extra points and field goals so well that he went out for and plays on a junior college team in Nelsonville, Ohio. Kaden has put to rest a word that should be forever buried. Putting Trust In Your Weather Gal
I don't know about you but I'll look at things like the above picture and it triggers another memory and another and another.
Charlie and I were going to Pet Smart to buy him a toy for our Thanksgiving trip to Kansas next week. On the way to the doggie shop we passed Safari golf course and I saw on the course swinging the club a cart with a guy in it and his sticks tied to the back. Then I glanced over a fairway or two and saw another guy, wearing a coat and stocking cap, walking with his clubs thrown over his shoulder and it hit me. It's 38 degrees F today.
When I golfed I always had a weather rule for playing. When I was in my thirties I allowed myself to play when it was in the thirties. In my forties I wouldn't play when it was below the forties and so on and so on and so on until today when I'm 75 I don't get to play than often and when I do and the temps are in the eighties and above, well, it's too damned hot for me so I sit in an air conditioned room watching golf on television-----------as long as I have water close by in case I get thirsty.
A Week In The Life
For not going anywhere out of Dublin, Ohio for an entire 12 months the last three weeks have been like a jeep trip through Montana without roads.
Twenty-one days ago it was a three hour trip to Morgantown, West Virigina to watch my beloved Iowa State Cyclones lose a football game. Fourteen days later I took a buddy to an NFL game in Cincinnati. I took a jar of pins with me in case I wanted to shove them in my eyes. That's the way I feel about pro football. Last week-end I flew to Stillwater, Minnesota for the wedding of a young man I've watched grow from in boy beginning in 1994. I must really like the kid because it wasn't cheap: Car rental-$80 per day for two days and it was an economy vehicle. I stayed in what I called a cheap motel. Oh, I could have shelled out $150 a night bet when one is asleep they can't tell if it's a $150 room or an $80 one.
Yours truly is an expert in motel staying. For twenty years I slept in those places four nights a week. I've stayed in bad ones and those that were worse. Last week I slept in my clothes for $85 per night. Get the picture? I knew inflation had hit when I visited a Wendy's for dinner. Six chicken nuggets and a double cheeseburger came to $9.95. Cha ching!
You all by now know how much we love our Charlie. Well, the Queen was giving him a bath and noticed a couple growths on his body;one on his foot and the other under his chin. Our new vet did a once over and told us they were warts. Whew! Then she started looking and probing and checked his teeth-KABOOM! It appears he has to have a molar removed in the next three months. Folks, if you have a dog or any other pet with teeth hold onto your shorts. My boy's tooth extraction is going to cost $579. and change. I recently had a tooth removed and a new one put in for under $700. And then the vet said, "Oh, I see another one that will have to come out in the next 12 months. If I wasn't 75 I'd become a veterinarian and save a good amount of cash.
Did you know the Rittenhouse verdict is in? Of course, you did. It's my opinion only but this case should never have gone to court. In less than 48 hours after the clash with the three felons(and, yes, they were felons) took place the dorky prosecutor brought first degree murder charges. It's impossible to ferret out all the information necessary in that short amount of time to garner this kind of material. The Left, many of whom I hope will be sued(can you say Joe Biden:) should be doing a 'biden' in their shorts right now. The cash this kid will get might be more than that of Nick Sandmann. As soon as I wrote 'Sandmann' a little birdie in my head said, "Joy Behar's a pig."
An hour ago the UK Guardian published a story reading, There are 50% more Covid cases from the vaccinated than there are from those who didn't get the shots.
One of the great problems in this country is the damage the media has done in regard to Covid. The only names people in this country know as experts on the subject are Tony Fauci and Deborah Birx. I wonder how many esteemed doctors, experts in this field people can name. I doubt very many. Try these two on for size: Dr. Scott Atlas who is with Stanford University and Dr. Marty Makary from John Hopkins. They both think Fauci is a, not their words, moron. There are brilliant men in this country and the world whose ideas and proposed treatments for the Covid who are totally overlooked. I suspect there's a reason. People can be duped by lies. Think not? Then who's sitting in the Oval Office.
Her Majesty is in Scottsdale this week which means I have to prepare my own meals. Once again I repeat-------the greatest invention ever made for the bachelor guy is the microwave oven. The second greatest invention is the drive-thru at Popeye's.Enjoy the week-end. Go Cyclones, Go Hawkeyes!

Charlie and I were scrolling the TV channels this morning and I came across one of those 'faith' shows. You know the ones. These religious guys go out in the crowd and cure people of cancer, arthritis and the mange.
Anyway, my thought was this: If they're so good at what they do why don't they go to places like the Mayo Clinic to perform their tricks?
