God did a most majestic thing when He gave us man's best friend. My buddy turned 8 today. It sort of saddens me because his whiskers have turned gray and he's slowed down but he still gives me cuddles and that's good. He looks forward to going for rides in the car. Yesterday we went to the dog park. It was a mud hole but he didn't care. I'm not supposed to get him off his strict diet but once in awhile I'll slip him a dollop of ice cream. Charlie doesn't do many tricks but he has a daily routine and one of them is to snuggle up next to me as I drink my morning coffee.
We were lucky enough to have Charlie come into our lives three years ago minus a month. He had two previous owners and didn't live an idyllic life; far from it. My pal is the most loving little guy. He doesn't mind all that much. He doesn't come when he's called unless he feels like it or I offer a treat then he runs to me like Secretariat coming down the home stretch. He has his own special way of be loving and that's a good thing.
We'll have a special dinner for him and there are some new toys coming today. I hope he likes them.
What a blessing when he came into our lives.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Charlie!
