How many times in this blog have I written about my very first love? It's too many to count but when I look at this picture I hearken back to the days of my youth: pick-up games at the water tower lot on Clinton Street as a 7 year old, Little League games: first at McHose Park then Jimmy Archer Field next to the Chicago & Northwestern railroad tracks, high school baseball at Memorial Park and finishing it off with my college baseball years. Gosh, can it really be 54 years since I hung up my spikes? Oh, I did coach high school baseball but there's nothing like putting on the glove and jogging across the white lines. If you never played the game I feel for you. Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
