If you're new to this site I'd like to comment on my Cairn Terrier. Early on Charlie had a tough life. Six years ago, as a newly born puppy, he was adopted but left off at a pound after two weeks. He then languished in a cage for a year only being let out for walks.
After that year he was adopted a second time by a professional in the healthcare system. Sadly, this man went to work every day at 7:30 am, put Charlie in a cage and let him out when he returned home at 5:30 pm. This is not the way to raise a pet.
Last February 10 we became Charlie's third owner. This was a lucky move for us and a luckier move for our dog. He runs the house. He's more than our pet. He's our friend.
Therefore, we're always looking to make his life better. As an example this past winter I was concerned the cold pavement would crack his paws so I spent $20 on feet warmers. The first day, the second and the third I put them on his feet. He ran outside, lie down and pulled them off. I then went to Vaseline which I should have done in the first place but nothings too good for my guy.
Charlie has the bad habit of eating his food much too quickly. He chows down the way a lion rips meat off an antelope--in gulps.
I saw an ad from the Chewy Company(they sell dog supplies) to slow down you dogs eating. It's a plastic dish. The food is placed in a maize but the ridges separating the maize are two inches high. I patted myself on the back the first two days telling The Queen and myself how smart I am. This morning I got up and fixed his dish. He looked at me, looked at the dish then picked it up and turned it over spilling the food on the kitchen floor.
Every day in every way my guy does something to absolutely amaze me.
