The First Day Of The Rest Of Our Lives

Yesterday, Saturday March 14, was Doom Day. I'd planned on taking my granddaughter to her first National Hockey League game. That fell through, of course.

Luckily we have a dog so taking him for his morning constitutional will likely be the highlight of my day(and afternoon) from this day forward until The Great Plague has ceased.

Hey, I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first and last time, and unless the government is hiding the facts from the populace we might be in for a tragedy. A learned friend of mine now living in The Villages, Florida emailed me that 60 million Americans are going to die. Zounds! That would most likely include moi.

I'm curious about the need for people to buy toilet paper. It's my understanding that COVID-19 brings on diarrhea. Yeah, so what? TP is off the shelves at virtually every outlet around the world. Haven't people heard of Kleenex, leaves, grass. The Queen and I were in Europe for the first time in 1994. If I'm lyin' I'm dyin' but I thought when I wiped myself I was using waxed paper. I guess folks could use rags and wash them or they could be like some in Arabian states who use their hand.

I'm not an active person. I do walk but have my radio headset on. I might start walking more. I'm a potato couch. Since sports is not available I can fall back on my two favorites; Law & Order and the Hallmark movie channel. Books are nice. Some people call them their best friends. My mind wanders a great deal. There are many times I'll have read one page from a novel, get to the bottom and ask myself, "What the hell did I just read"? I do better with short stories.

So, it's come to this. In my cupboards beneath the television in my man cave I have a box of photos dating back to my early childhood. I may sort them out, reminisce a bit, then throw some in the dumpster.

Her Majesty asked if I want to play card games, any kind of card games. The answer was "No'! I don't care for cards.

I was so looking forward to April 1 when my golf course opens officially. We got a slug of snow yesterday so that plan is on hold. In a few minutes I'll go to the Catholic Channel on EWTN. I doubt I'll get much out of it.

I'm trying to stay positive about this ordeal. I'm working on 'Is the cup half full or half empty'. In a week or so I'll let you know how it pans out.

"Hey Charlie, are you sure you don't have to go outside"?
