My old town of Boone, Iowa saw a Black Lives Matter March on June 8. The organizer was a long time resident, more than a liberal; a flaming liberal with fire coming out of every orifice of her body. Did I mention she's White? In Boone one almost has to be. The Black population in this community of 12,000 is 0.08%. The same goes for every other ethnic group except for Hispanices. They come in at 2% of the population.
Anyway, the organizer of the March evidently received permission from the city. The big event started on the main drag called Story St. which is in the business section. The total number of businesses covers a good four blocks if you don't count the stores across the railroad tracks. That's only loaded with taverns and one gas station.
The march moved south four blocks, east four blocks, north four blocks and ended with a four block west trek Can you imagine the number of calories burned? Can you imagine the number of people who really didn't give a flying crap?
What saddened me was that the business prepared for the worst. They covered up their storefront windows with plywood. In 2016 a citizen had Trump's picture along with an American flag painted on the side of a two story building. It, too, was covered. So, Boone businessman had to accomadate a few protesters by spending money and possibly closing their business losing money to appease some well-intentioned but clueless do-gooders. It cost them time and money and the march was done against them by supposed friends and neighbors. By people who are police officers who send their kids and grandchildren to the same schools as the agitators.
I come into conflict over the Black Lives Matter Movement. It's acknowledged that this started because of two situations that Obama turned into a cause. When he first took office a policeman was required to check into the goings on in a residence. A neighbor had seen a man, a black man, enter a domecile and called the law. It turns out the owner was the person entering. His last name was Gates. He was a Harvard professor and he was a friend of Barack Obama. Der leader went on television to address the issue. His statement; "The Cambridge police acted stupidly". The second situation was with the Trayvon Martin death. Once again Obama fueled the fire by stating: "If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon". The media showed Martin as a nice looking 12 year old. His up to date photo would cause normal citizens to head to the basement. There would never be the moniker Saint in front of his name.
My biggest concern about Black Lives Matter is people forget and quickly. We are such sheeple our memories are a week long at best. Because of the two Obama instances BLM went on the march. Did you forget? I didn't. Their chants were: : "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!"
Cute huh? Another was "Pigs in a blanket. Fry 'em like bacon." Do you remember now?
The major problem with liberals is they have what's called a bumper sticker mentality. You'll see a sticker that reads; Black Lives Matter. Who can argue with that? Another will read; Peace Now. No, we want war. How about my favorite; COEXIST with the symbols of seven countries. It'd be great but there's a two word answer to that one; FAT CHANCE!
I've lived in eight communities in my life. We've lived in Columbus, Ohio burbs for 31 years of our lives. Yet, when I'm asked where I'm from I always say Boone, Iowa. You can always take the boy out of Boone but you can't take Boone out of the boy. Just leave the trouble makers on the curb.
