Thank goodness the forced face mask mandates are about over. Oh, there are pockets of resistance. As an example, Amherst Univ., one of those snobby east cost universities dictated if just one student in a class felt uncomfortable not wearing face guards then all must wear them.
I still see pockets of resistance when I shop at Kroger's. Usually the wearing is a seventy-ish type person carrying more weight than God intended for human beings. And, last week, I saw a lady driving by herself down Route 161 in Dublin sporting a mask. What is it the movie character, Forrest Gump, told us? Oh yeah, "Stupid is as stupid does."
As I am wont to do I was thinking back on my early life and it hit me. We, the people, were just as gullible in the 1950's as today, maybe even more so.
Any 70 plus year old people might remember this picture.
Yep! In case of an atom bomb attack we were going to be protected if we hid under our desks. Our parents fell for the ruse. The nuns did the same and we were happy to do it because it was like a vacation from studying arithmetic.
