In listening to one of the local sports stations in my now hometown of Columbus Ohio a caller stated, incredibly to me, that the 11-2 record of the Buckeyes of last year was inexcusable and that their end of the year ranking of number six in the nation was an embarrassment. If this occurs again the head coach, Ryan Day, needs to be fired, said the caller who most likely cannot spell the word jock strap.
Folks, I grew up in Iowa. The rule for a successful season is one game over .500 and that's the way it should be; kind of. I'm still reveling in the game between the Buckeyes and Hawkeyes of five years ago in Iowa City when we throttled the Bucks 55-24. They haven't played since but my joy should and probably will come to an end this November when the Hawks come to Columbus. Regardless, this season will be a fun time. The fall of the year and college football makes life worth living.
Oh, if you're not familiar with the Hawkeye state the logos remind us of Iowa, Iowa State and the Univ of Northern Iowa. All hail Iowa football teams and I can't forget the Kohawks from Coe College, my alma mater. As we used to say, if you can't go to college go to Coe.
