The Queen and I are leaving our Minnesota lake place early on Sunday morning. We're driving to Ohio, 17 hours of torturous interstate. It's a three hour shot from our cabin to The Twin Cities and it flies by like a bullet hitting a target from 20 feet. Driving across Wisconsin is agony and it's only a four hour shot to Beloit. I think it's because doing the I-94 trip is akin to driving in the Indy 500 especially when I-90 coming from the west joins up at Eau Claire.
We'll arrive in Dublin, Ohio sometime around 2 pm on Monday, God willing. In two weeks we'll return to the lake until late September. And why do you ask would be only go home for two weeks then turn around and make the 17 trek? Can you say doctors? Yipper, we both have doctors and at our age they've become our best friends even though we never socialize.
College football begins soon. I already know the outcome for the playoffs. It's going to be Alabama, Ohio State and take your pick. All I really care about are the Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes. If either goes 8-5 its a winner. 9-4 will be like winning the Super Bowl.
The lake was wonderful this year. Temperatures averaged in the 70's and the 50's at night. Pity the people south of St. Cloud to Mexico. They sweltered.
