It was fifty-some weeks ago a television news lady uttered the infamous 'Let's Go Brandon' statement at a NASCAR race and history was made. Right away bumper stickers with the phrase made their appearance and I was one of the first to place it on my car rear window.
In previous years I'd have never done such a thing because one never knows how many whack jobs might take offense and put a boulder through my back window. Anymore, I don't care. As a matter of fact now that I'd turned 75 at the time I don't much care about saying inappropriate words of derision. In my case it's good for the soul. Besides, there are hundreds of thousands who weren't familiar with the Brandon phrase as an alternative to 'F Joe Biden'.
Well, I've retired that one because it's worn out it's place in society. Last week I was driving north on Murifield Drive in Dublin and was passed by a black SUV. I noticed a different bumper sticker on the back window and followed said vehicle to find out where I could get one. The driver was a mid-forties woman. I told her how much I liked the bumper sticker and she began, without my questioning, to tell me why she put it on her car. She said she used to be a public school teacher but retired because she couldn't stand the political correctness, Democrat policies, attention to trannies and all that other jazz. Of course, I congratulated her on common sense then drove home and put in my order.
Thank God for James Madison.
